About The Job
The Avionics Technician for the New Product Introduction and Low Volume line will be responsible for learning and executing electronic assembly processes necessary to manufacture a quality product in a timely manner, as well as assisting electrical engineering team with various day to day activities. This role includes but is not limited to, conducting post-flight inspections, refurbishing assets post-flight, conducting pilot builds on newer designs and aiding engineering in developing work instructions and processes, and executing lower volume contracts to free up the main production line. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and testing down to the component level and replacing broken parts. You will be soldering under a microscope, wire harnesses fabrication and crimping. This will require strong soldering skills. What You'll Do
- Soldering/de-soldering board level components onto PCBA's
- Cable harness fabrication/assembly
- Firmware/software installation onto embedded systems
- Read technical drawings and schematics
- Assemble small mechanical/electrical assemblies
- Install, assemble, and integrate new or upgraded electronic components, wiring, and systems, often fabricating parts or designing layouts.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient troubleshooting skills at both a system and component level
- Able to build items in accordance with engineering drawings and little to no work instructions
- Analyze workflows, conduct time/motion studies, and suggest revisions to enhance manufacturing efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Identifies inefficiencies in manufacturing processes and leads continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs
- Serve as a critical bridge between design engineers and hands-on implementation
- Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering, crimping, wiring diagrams, schematics, and advanced avionics software.
- High attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, clear communication, self-motivation, and teamwork.
- 3+ years working in manufacturing setting (aerospace, electronics, or medical industry preferred)
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email, etc.)
- Willing to work overtime under tight deadlines
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Must be proficient in soldering with small components (will be tested soldering 0402 components)
- Experience with Quality Assurance documentation
- Ability to follow checklists and procedures while testing devices
- Experience using various measuring tools (e.g. tape measure, caliper, etc.)
- Experience using small power tools (drill, Dremel, sander, etc.)
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or Associates degree in related electrical/computer engineering a plus
- Electronics manufacturing industry experience a plus
- Able to hand solder per J-STD and/or NASA-STD 8739.4
US Hourly Range: $58,000 - $77,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
