Operations Analyst, Surface Maritime
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
About The Team
Anduril is a defense technology company, bringing Silicon Valley talent and funding to the defense sector. Our technology helps our customers solve their toughest challenges by enabling them to make better, more informed decisions in life-and-death situations. We've assembled a diverse team of experts in artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor fusion, optics, and data analysis to create software and hardware solutions that radically evolve the defense capabilities of the United States and its allies. If you are passionate about solving problems that have real impact, we want you to join Anduril and help us build the future of defense capability.
About The Job
At Anduril, we are developing unmanned systems for subsurface, surface, land, and air domains that will leverage unsupervised autonomy for the delivery of multi-mission capability to our customers. Working with the Maritime Division Advanced Capabilities team, Operations Analysts provide support to developmental and legacy projects to determine military utility and bounds for required system performance. These projects require Operations Analysts with deep levels of relevant domain experience to provide direction to the talented software and hardware engineers. We are looking for an Operations Analyst to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. The Operations Analyst interfaces with external and internal stakeholders to identify needs, then applies their SME knowledge to the development of rigorous math and physics-based analytical products which will be used to guide product development and complement our demonstration events, leaving no doubt that Anduril builds systems that offer real and proximate military capability. Additionally, the Operations Analyst will engage with Software Engineers building the supporting mission system software to ensure that predicted customer needs are integrated into all facets of the platform.
What You'll Do
- Develop model-driven analysis, and often the models themselves, using advanced modeling and simulation capabilities, as inputs to critical design decisions for autonomous vehicle design, development, and employment
- Provide subject matter expertise (SME) input into autonomous system and/or behavior design
- Define the user experience that Anduril wants to provide to planners/operators of our autonomous systems so that software features enable the breadth of anticipated needs
- Develop a deep understanding of the transformational value of Anduril platforms, autonomy, simulation and perception products
- Effectively convey the value of cutting edge technology and approaches, including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence, meshed edge computing, multi-agent autonomy and human machine teaming
- Work as a member of an international, multi-disciplinary team, including as a subject matter expert and mentor for both Hardware and Software Engineers from differing backgrounds
- Drive engagement, both internal and external, to discover gaps in the understanding of autonomous platform capability
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of familiarity with the surface or air domain as it relates to military naval operations, including tactics, planning, logistics, and capability acquisition and sustainment
- 3+ years of experience conducting Operations Analysis/Research in a relevant field, including agent-based simulation
- Outstanding communication skills, including visual representation of complex concepts, processes and data in a manner appropriate to particular stakeholders
- Ability to de-compose issues within complex problem spaces, working alongside engineering teams to identify actionable next-steps and drive novel solution development
- Background in STEM, or significant experience in a technologically complex environment (such as operating a nuclear submarine or military aircraft)
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of recent military service as a surface warfare officer, or naval aviator with high-levels of experience in surface warfare, integrated air and missile defense, electronic warfare, and/or anti-submarine warfare roles
- Graduate of the United States Naval Post-Graduate School with studies in Operations Research
- 1+ years experience with physics-based modeling at the payload, platform and/or mission level, or campaign-level modeling using AFSim (or similar)
- 5+ years experience with using simulation products such as AFSIM, MATLAB, SIMULINK, Powersim Studio, Python (or similar) to build Dynamic Systems Models
- Experience in developing discrete event simulations
