Product Design Intern

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

We are seeking a Product Design Intern for Summer 2026! This is a paid, in-person, 12 week internship based out of Costa Mesa, CA.

What You'll Do

Build foundational product design skills through real-world impact

  • You will develop a deep understanding of how Software Product Design plays an integral role in shaping experiences in mission critical autonomous and command & control domains.
  • You will own a feature or workflow end-to-end running discovery, design exploration, prototyping, and implementation with engineers.
  • You will leverage Anduril's existing design system components and interaction patterns while exercising your design fundamental skills: typography, color & icon usage, and layout.

Develop operator empathy and strategic thinking skills

  • You will define solutions based on an understanding of the end-user needs, product, and business goals.
  • You will develop a deep understanding of operator workflows and mission context through observation and engagement with end users (or proxy subject matter experts).
  • You will participate in user research sessions and practice synthesis of learnings with guidance from your manager or lead.

Develop your design, communication, and collaboration skills

  • You will share work early and often – soliciting input from cross-functional partners and stakeholders.
  • You will exercise your storytelling skills by presenting concepts and designs in critiques and stakeholder reviews.
  • You will practice rapid design iteration based on team feedback.

Execute with increasing autonomy

  • You will collaborate with product designers, research, product management, and engineers to understand the problem space and define effective solutions.
  • You will account for technical constraints and edge cases in your designs.
  • You will maintain an organized Figma workspace, and develop your design documentation and hand-off process.

Required Qualifications

  • Holds or in the process of obtaining a Bachelors degree in design (HCD, interaction, visual) or design related field.
  • Must be a rising senior at the time of internship and returning to school at the end of internship to continue academic studies for at least one quarter/semester.
  • A desire to work on software and applications that have real-world impact.
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Figma design and prototyping tools.
  • Growth mindset and proactiveness to seek feedback.
  • Adaptable, quick to learn, and comfort operating in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Low-ego, high ownership, and mission oriented.
