Position Summary

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Material/Production Planner responsible for optimizing production processes by maintaining the Master Production Schedule to ensure alignment with program milestones and on-time deliveries across Axiom's various production services. This role serves as the planning lead for program hardware builds, managing the process from procurement through delivery while leading cross-functional planning reviews. Key responsibilities include coordinating manufacturing processes, schedules, and resources in alignment with production plans to support critical path decisions. The Material/Production Planner also collaborates with leadership to optimize resource allocation and delivers data-driven insights to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across Axiom's programs for production and processing services (soft goods fabrication, electrical production, event support, testing, etc.), ensuring alignment with program milestones and on-time deliveries
  • Generate, release and manage work orders
  • Monitor inventory levels, place procurements, and expedite orders as needed
  • Own material resource planning and support make/buy decisions to inform critical path strategies
  • Drive proactive risk management by identifying and resolving bottlenecks and delays
  • Integrate planning activities within ERP/MRP/MES systems, ensuring configuration integrity
  • Support or facilitate regular meetings with the technical teams for requirements, schedule and potential logistical impacts associated with outstanding orders
  • Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
  • Analyze production data to optimize lead times, reduce waste, and improve efficiency
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain or related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years' experience in material planning or production planning with experience in the aerospace or manufacturing industry or a combined equivalent of education and experience
  • Familiarity with engineering bills of materials
  • Familiarity with Siemens Opscenter, Jira, and/or Costpoint highly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
  • Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • Experience working in an Agile work environment preferred
  • Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high quality results

Work Environment:

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones

Physical Requirements:

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
