Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Technical Recruiter to serve as our founding technical recruiting hire. This is a highly impactful role with direct influence on the quality and growth of our engineering organization. You will lead hiring across multiple engineering roles while helping define how technical recruiting operates as the company scales.

This role requires strong ownership, sound judgment, and comfort operating in ambiguity. You will work closely with our Recruiting Coordinator and engineering leadership as a trusted strategic partner throughout the hiring process.

What You'll Do

1. Own technical hiring strategy and execution across multiple engineering roles (e.g. backend, frontend, AI, iOS, robotics).
2. Partner with engineering leaders to define role requirements, calibrate on candidates, and align on hiring bar and signal.
3. Source, screen, and assess candidates; synthesize interview feedback; and make clear hiring recommendations.
4. Establish clear structure, expectations, and processes for technical hiring in an early-stage environment.
5. Design and improve interview loops to increase signal quality and reduce false positives.
6. Coach hiring managers on effective interviewing and evaluation.
7. Partner closely with the Recruiting Coordinator to optimize recruiting workflows and pipelines, and ensure smooth execution and a strong candidate experience.

What Will Make You Successful

• 5+ years of technical recruiting experience, ideally in early-stage or fast-growing startups.
• Strong track record of hiring technical talent across a range of experience levels and disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to source and evaluate high-quality technical candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter and other sourcing platforms.
• Expertise in building recruiting processes from scratch and operating without established playbooks.
• Strong relationship-building skills, judgment, comfort pushing back, and ability to earn trust and influence senior stakeholders.

Bonus Points

• Proven success as a founding or early technical recruiting hire.
• Deep, hands-on experience using Ashby.

Work Location

This is a hybrid role based in San Carlos, CA, with 3+ days per week onsite and the option to work remotely on remaining days.
