Environmental Testing Specialist

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As part of a hardworking team of specialists, you'll perform environmental testing of flight hardware for various spaceflight systems. In this hands-on position you'll work directly with a small team operating and maintaining the environmental test equipment we use for development, qualification, and acceptance testing of flight hardware.

Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct hands-on thermal, vibration, shock, and vacuum testing on flight hardware in accordance with MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016 and MIL-STD-1540
- Demonstrated ability to work with test, flight, and safety critical hardware, tools, and shop equipment
- Setup and safely operate high energy systems (e.g. high pressure gas and electrical)
- Operate and maintain environmental test equipment including data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, vibration systems, and instrumentation systems
- Conduct and/or oversee several test projects simultaneously while supporting operations schedules
- Configure test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation per test plans and standards
- Generate test plans, test reports, procedures, and work instructions from customer requirements
- Design test fixtures per requirements, test plans, and standards
- Maintain cleanliness of test equipment and test lab
- Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule, and technical risks
- Participate in Process/Job Hazard Assessments
- Weekends and OT dependent on company needs
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with hand tools and mechanical assemblies
- Passion for learning new skills and willingness to embrace new challenges
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and self-starting skills
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs
- Able to stand for extended hours
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated strong safety mindset and experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with thermal, vibration, shock, or thermal vacuum testing
- Associate's Degree (A.S.) in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, or physics preferred)
- Experience testing aerospace hardware
- Ability to utilize test instrumentation and control components (e.g., pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves)
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics and reports
- Experience with high pressure system design and handling
- Experience with hydraulic system design and handling
- Experience with cryogenic system design and handling
- Experience using test instrumentation and control components
- Availability for weekend shifts or overtime as required for specific tasks or test series
- Position level will be commensurate with experience
Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $24.02-$33.63

- Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
