Sr. Production Planning/Scheduling Manager

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
We are seeking a Sr. Production Planning/Scheduling Manager who will be responsible for managing the Lunar Production Planning/Scheduling organization overseeing a team of production planners and schedulers.
This role involves establishing and deploying a common set of Production Planning and Scheduling processes, ensuring the organization is aligned with company/organizational goals and maintaining the highest standards of performance. Managing production planners and schedulers who will consider program schedules, customer request dates, labor availability, facility capacity, machine/resources, and anticipated lead times for make/buy part availability.
Production Planning/Scheduling reporting requirements are Daily, Weekly, and Monthly as part of the Lunar Operations Management Operating System. You are responsible to ensure reports are accurate and submitted on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages a team of production planners and schedulers, including performance evaluations, professional development, and ensuring team alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensures team members are trained and proficient in using scheduling software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, ERP systems).
- Establishes and maintains common Production Planning and Scheduling management processes across the organization.
- Fosters a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting continuous improvement and adherence to LEAN and Six Sigma principles.
- Ensures the Work Center schedule, Program schedule, and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) are aligned.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation and judgment.
- Manages production schedules for multiple programs. Provides Production Control with detailed information to ensure scheduled completion dates align with actual work center capacities, capabilities, and historical performance.
- Evaluates product scope and creates tactical schedules using scheduling systems (MS Project/Primavera P6). Controls the scope of work released to Production Control for management and execution.
- When schedule recovery is necessary, identifies and analyzes solutions and bottlenecks, including forward and reverse scheduling methods.
- Works closely with production teams to determine the needs and constraints of the manufacturing shop floor, technicians, and schedules work accordingly.
- Coordinates interdepartmental activity with Program Management, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Engineering to ensure production and customer specifications are accurate and production schedules are timely.
- Monitors status and provides regular updates to management on upcoming production priorities.
- Updates visual management boards with current job/program status.
- Performs schedule and scope variance analysis and reviews MRP execution.
- Mentors and assists team members

Team Focus & Domain Expertise:
As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, you and your team will be responsible for all aspects of creating, analyzing, and communicating production plans/schedules using industry-standard scheduling software. You will collaborate with Vehicle Leaders, Factory Integrators, Manufacturing Managers, Manufacturing Engineering, Responsible Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production Control to ensure work is efficiently planned and executed.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Excellent written/verbal communications skills.
- BA/BS in Production Management, Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Design Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of recent production planning and scheduling management experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
- Excellent computer skills with Primavera P6, MS Project, MS Excel, Power Point, Word, and ERP experience including MRP, and MES experience.
- Experience in creating, maintaining, and reporting schedules with CPM (critical path methodology) in MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Able to work a full-time schedule, including occasional travel, overtime, or on-call work.
- Based upon job duties, may need to work in various areas that may cause exposure to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrates understanding and can apply continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, Six Sigma principles/DFSS (Design for Six Sigma)/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and KPIs.
- Abe to create reports/dashboards utilizing Tableau, Data Bricks, Power BI, SQL
