Our interns should be compelled to build innovative solutions, create new designs and collaborate with others. We are looking for passionate and talented students with a background in data science, engineering, mathematics or computer science - one to two years from graduation (Bachelor or Masters degree). The ideal candidate will be excited about problem solving and be passionate about the future of supersonic aircraft design.
Role Overview
As an Aircraft Engineering Intern, you will:
- Contribute to the design, analysis, and integration of aircraft systems, structures, or flight sciences models
- Support CAD modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings for system routing or structural hardware
- Perform preliminary analysis in areas such as aerodynamics, loads, dynamics, or structural performance
- Assist in creating engineering deliverables in alignment with industry standards and program requirements
- Analyze data from simulation, wind tunnel, or test activities to refine and validate models
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines—including propulsion, manufacturing, and test—to deliver integrated designs
- Gain exposure to the full engineering cycle: from early concepts through design, analysis, and testing
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly in support of design reviews and program milestones
Ideal Candidate
- One year away from graduation in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, or Structural Engineering (or similar)
- Solid foundation in engineering fundamentals—mechanics, fluids, thermodynamics, and dynamics
- Familiarity with CAD modeling and/or analysis tools (e.g., CATIA, MATLAB, Python, ANSYS, NASTRAN)
- Coursework or project experience in at least one of the following:
- Systems routing and integration
- Structural analysis or testing
- Aerodynamics, stability & control, or aircraft performance
- Clear communicator who thrives in cross-functional team environments
- Strong attention to detail and a curiosity to learn hands-on in a fast-paced setting
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ambition, complemented by effective collaboration skills in a team setting
- Excels in a high-energy, independent, and challenging work environment
What Will Set You Apart
- Prior internship or project experience in aerospace or related high-tech industries
- Exposure to finite element analysis, CFD, or flight sciences modeling tools
- Hands-on lab, prototyping, or test experience in systems or structures
- Passion for aviation and advancing the future of supersonic flight
Work Location
Internships require 100% onsite at Boom's headquarters located at 6803 S Tucson Way, Centennial, CO 80112.
Internship Duration
Internships will run from early June to mid August with flexibility to accommodate for the academic semester.
Compensation
The Hourly Pay Rate for this position is $30 per hour. In addition, Boom will provide a housing allowance. Please note that transportation and meal expenses are not covered.
