Our interns should be compelled to build innovative solutions, create new designs and collaborate with others. We are looking for passionate and talented students with a background in data science, engineering, mathematics or computer science - one to two years from graduation (Bachelor or Masters degree). The ideal candidate will be excited about problem solving and be passionate about the future of supersonic aircraft design.
Role Overview
As an Engine Systems Engineering Intern, you will:
- Support the design and development of engine subsystems, structural hardware, or manufacturing tooling and fixtures
- Contribute to CAD modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings to enable fabrication and assembly
- Assist in creating test plans, setting up instrumentation, and analyzing test data to validate designs
- Develop or improve workflows, automation scripts, or process documentation to streamline engineering and manufacturing activities
- Collaborate with design, propulsion, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver integrated hardware and systems
- Gain exposure to real-world engineering cycles—from concept to design, build, and test—on a supersonic aircraft program
- Communicate findings, progress, and recommendations clearly across cross-functional teams
Ideal Candidate
- One year away from graduation in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals in mechanics, fluids, thermodynamics, and materials
- Familiarity with CAD modeling and technical drawings (CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Coursework or project experience in one or more of the following: propulsion, manufacturing, test engineering, or mechanical design
- Clear communicator who thrives in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments
- Organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a hands-on setting
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ambition, complemented by effective collaboration skills in a team setting
- Excels in a high-energy, independent, and challenging work environment
What Will Set You Apart
- Prior internship or project experience in aerospace, automotive, or high-tech hardware development
- Hands-on experience with machining, prototyping, or manufacturing processes
- Exposure to data acquisition, embedded systems, or control software for testing
- Familiarity with GD&T, test instrumentation, or finite element analysis tools
- Passion for sustainable aviation and the future of high-speed flight
Work Location
Internships require 100% onsite at Boom's headquarters located at 6803 S Tucson Way, Centennial, CO 80112.
Internship Duration
Internships will run from early June to mid August with flexibility to accommodate for the academic semester.
Compensation
The Hourly Pay Rate for this position is $30 per hour. In addition, Boom will provide a housing allowance. Please note that transportation and meal expenses are not covered.
