Software Engineer

The vCenter Core team in Sofia is currently looking for a DB Software Engineer. The team has an important role in the vCenter Server product implementation is responsible for the core platform functionalities with a focus on persistency, security, monitoring and data retrieval. vCenter Server provides a centralized product for managing the VMware vSphere cloud computing virtualization platform, allowing the automation and delivery of virtual infrastructure across the multi-cloud. The Sofia team takes active participation in many of the most critical projects of the product and needs candidates that are willing to be challenged. Are you?

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and executing database projects as needed
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand database needs and requirements
• Create the design and implementation of database architecture for new projects
• Perform Code Reviews and provide feedback on database-related work to ensure quality and adherence to standards
• Perform testing needed that requires expertise knowledge
• Help on releasing new internal Postgres release based on new major or minor OSS Postgres release or updated OSS sub-component with urgent security or other business critical patch
• Provide mentorship and training to team members on database technologies, tools, and best practices
• Assist team members in solving complex database problems and challenges
• Monitor, maintain, and optimize existing database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly

Requirements

• University education in IT
• Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Developer/Administrator
• Proficiency in SQL and database scripting languages
• Strong knowledge of database design, indexing, and high-performance data concepts
• Ability to generate DB tools
• Experience in one or more scripting languages, preferably Python
• Knowledge in Jenkins, Builds, Test Frameworks is a plus
