Senior Software Engineer

Job Title

VMware by Broadcom is a leader in datacenter infrastructure, networking, security, and virtualization software. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join the Application Networking and Security (ANS) division.

ANS is a fast-paced, tight-knit team providing advanced security solutions such as Distributed Firewall and Rule Recommendation, Network Traffic Anomalies Detection, Network Flows Visualization and Monitoring, Intrusion Detection and Prevention and Malware Prevention.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with knowledge in both Java as well as Go (Golang) to join the Security Segmentation Assessment team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading discussions, providing solutions, and driving implementation of complex distributed systems to build and maintain scalable, cloud native infrastructure solutions. You will work closely with product management, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, driving innovation and excellence in our product development lifecycle. You'll be working on technologies like Golang, Java, Kubernetes, Helm, Kafka, Postgres, MinIO, Apache Druid, Node.js Python.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge and Experience: Have wide ranging experience to cover functional breadth and depth to achieve innovative and effective solutions to complex problems.
• Hands-on Development: Contribute significantly to the hands-on implementation of core system components, setting an example for code quality and engineering excellence.
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, acting as a key troubleshooter and problem-solver for critical system issues.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with product managers, UX designers, quality assurance, and other engineering teams to ensure successful product delivery.
• Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends related to distributed systems, cloud computing, and virtualization, proposing and prototyping innovative solutions.
• Performance and Scalability: Ensure the design and implementation of systems meet stringent performance, scalability, and security requirements.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10+ years of experience in software product development is required.
• The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-starter who excels in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Demonstrable strong collaboration skills and a "Team First" mindset are essential.
• Technical Excellence: Proven commitment to technical engineering excellence and a drive for innovation in all endeavors.
• Programming Languages: Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python) is mandatory.
• Technologies: Kubernetes, Helm, Kafka, Postgres, MinIO, Apache Druid, Apache-FOP
• Networking: A solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols relevant to distributed systems is required. Knowledge in the networking security domain will be a plus.
• Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills are a prerequisite.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science is required.
