Facilities Maintenance Technician

We are looking to add a Facilities Maintenance Technician to our team. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility infrastructure and specialized environmental test equipment. This role serves as a key technical resource within the Facilities function, supporting mission-critical operations and driving reliability, performance, and safety across complex systems such as thermal vacuum chambers, vibration systems, and environmental test equipment.

This position requires deep technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and the ability to lead complex maintenance efforts while partnering cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and EH&S to ensure compliant and efficient facility operations.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of specialized test equipment, including:
    • Thermal vacuum (TVAC) chambers
    • Vibration (vibe) shaker systems
    • Environmental and thermal chambers
    • Humidity control systems (e.g., SmartFog or equivalent)
    • Cooling systems supporting environmental test equipment
  • Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new facility systems and test equipment.
  • Diagnose complex equipment issues and support or lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and repair facility infrastructure systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and compressed air systems and distribution.
  • Perform general facilities maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, and basic electrical work.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs, equipment deficiencies, and potential safety hazards.
  • Execute and continuously improve preventative maintenance (PM) programs to ensure reliability and uptime of facility and test systems.
  • Participate in preventative maintenance activities supporting manufacturing, test, and facility operations.
  • Maintain operational readiness of critical infrastructure and equipment.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and service tickets in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assemble and install furniture, fixtures, and equipment to support office, lab, and manufacturing environments.
  • Support day-to-day facility operations to ensure minimal disruption to business activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee work performed by external contractors and service providers.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Test Engineering, and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) to support safe and compliant operations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, preventative maintenance records, and equipment documentation.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements And Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in Facilities, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field preferred with 7+ years of progressive facilities maintenance experience, including support of specialized equipment or industrial systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with and advanced knowledge of facility infrastructure systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air).
  • Deep familiarity with environmental test equipment such as TVAC chambers, vibration systems, and thermal chambers.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance methodologies and CMMS systems.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA compliance, lockout/tagout procedures) with the ability to follow them consistently.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and lead technical efforts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems, with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ability to review digital schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond to urgent maintenance needs in a timely manner.
  • Building Management Systems (BMS) or similar facility monitoring systems.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights (e.g., ladders, lifts) and in confined spaces as required.
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • May be required to work in varying environmental conditions, including temperature fluctuations, noise, and proximity to mechanical systems.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or laboratory environments strongly preferred.

$39.55 - $46.74 an hour
