The Role
As a Product Manager on the Software Engineering team, you will be responsible for defining and delivering software solutions that transform how quality data is collected, analyzed, and used in decision-making across manufacturing. You will work closely with full stack web developers to design and build enterprise-grade tools that serve Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Technologists, and cross-functional stakeholders. You will serve as the connective tissue between technical and non-technical teams—someone who can speak the language of Six Sigma and SQL, who understands control charts as well as database architecture, and who can inspire confidence in engineers, developers, and operators alike.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Gathering and translating requirements from quality engineers, manufacturing stakeholders, and data scientists into product specifications.
- Building and managing a product roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
- Driving adoption of software tools and promoting digital transformation initiatives within quality and manufacturing domains.
- Facilitating cross-functional communication, resolving stakeholder conflicts, and aligning teams with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Leading user testing, feedback loops, and continuous improvement cycles with a focus on usability and data integrity.
- Managing and prioritizing product backlogs in an agile development environment.
- Ensuring that software tools are designed with statistical rigor, reliability, and scalability.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of product management or technical program management experience, preferably in manufacturing, quality systems, or enterprise software.
- Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, quality professionals, and manufacturing operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate alignment across stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to drive projects independently with minimal oversight.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, product development lifecycles, and user-centered design.
- Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and data analytics platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in project/product management (PMP, CAPM, CSM, etc.).
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, Toyota Production System, FMEA, and structured problem-solving frameworks (8D, Ishikawa, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).
- Knowledge of statistical process control, in-situ process monitoring, material and dimensional analysis, Six Sigma, and quality assurance principles.
- Proficiency in SQL, data visualization, databases, and/or basic programming (Python, R, etc.).
- Understanding of enterprise software architecture, data pipelines, and system integration.
- Experience working in startups or high-growth environments, with an ability to balance long-term vision with short-term execution.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to simplify complex systems and communicate clearly.
- Ability to influence without authority and build consensus across multiple departments and functions.
Work Environment
- This role is fully on-site at our Torrance, CA headquarters.
Compensation
At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels of Lead Product Manager (E06) - Principal Product Manager (E07) as evaluated through our interview process.
- Lead Product Manager / E06: $141,400 - $194,400
- Principal Product Manager / E07: $163,300 - $224,550
