Purpose

As the Operations and International Portfolio Director, you will lead Divergent's strategic efforts in expanding our presence within the aerospace and defense sectors. This role combines operations leadership, financial oversight, and the management of international expansion, with a focus on high-impact engagements with key stakeholders at the Pentagon, Department of Defense (DoD), and international defense partners. You will drive the integration of Divergent’s cutting-edge technologies in the defense sector, while overseeing operational efficiency and financial strategy. Your role will be critical in positioning Divergent as a key player in modernizing defense systems, ensuring mission readiness, and delivering advanced capabilities to national security initiatives.

The Role

The Operations and International Portfolio Director will oversee the execution of Divergent's strategy for growth in the aerospace and defense sector, with a strong emphasis on international market expansion and high-level engagements within the Pentagon and DoD. Key responsibilities include:

Strategic Leadership & Operations:

  • Lead the development and execution of Divergent's strategy for growth in the aerospace and defense sectors, with a specific focus on expanding international partnerships and markets.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of Divergent’s aerospace and defense projects, ensuring efficient execution and alignment with strategic business objectives.
  • Serve as a key operational leader driving the integration of Divergent’s advanced manufacturing and digital technologies into defense and aerospace platforms.

International Expansion:

  • Spearhead Divergent’s international portfolio, identifying and securing new defense contracts, collaborations, and alliances with global defense partners, NATO allies, and other international stakeholders.
  • Work closely with international military and government leaders to position Divergent as a critical partner in defense innovation and technology adoption.
  • Explore and manage opportunities for international defense collaboration and expansion of Divergent's technology platforms to meet global defense needs.

Engagements with the Pentagon & DoD:

  • Lead strategic engagements with senior military, government, and industry leaders, including high-level interactions with the Pentagon, to position Divergent as a key technology partner in modernizing defense systems and enhancing national security.
  • Manage critical DoD initiatives, ensuring Divergent’s products and technologies are aligned with national defense priorities and objectives.
  • Represent Divergent at relevant defense conferences, forums, and meetings with key government and military stakeholders.

Government Financial Compliance:

  • Ensure government financial compliance documentation is properly managed and coordinate with government acquisition authorities as well as with parent and subsidiary entities.
  • Collaborate with the executive leadership team to ensure financial health and resource allocation for strategic initiatives, international expansion, and new project development.
  • Manage the financial performance of ongoing defense and aerospace contracts, ensuring profitability and the alignment of resources with business goals.

Cross-functional Leadership:

  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams, collaborating with technology, business development, legal, and operations teams to drive growth and operational efficiency across global defense markets.
  • Mentor and develop talent within the team, ensuring alignment with Divergent’s broader vision of transforming aerospace and defense manufacturing processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM, government, or business
  • 10+ years of experience in the aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing sectors, with a strong focus on operations leadership, financial management, and strategic expansion.
  • Proven success in leading large, complex programs in collaboration with the DoD, military branches, and/or international defense organizations.
  • Experience engaging with senior leadership in the DoD, Pentagon, and other government agencies, with a deep understanding of defense procurement and contracting processes.
  • Strong expertise in advanced manufacturing technologies, including 3D printing, digital manufacturing, and supply chain optimization in the defense and aerospace sectors.
  • Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering and business
  • Deep knowledge of international defense ecosystems, including NATO, allied defense contractors, and global defense procurement.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience overseeing budgeting, financial forecasting, and managing financial strategy for large-scale defense programs.
  • A recognized leader in defense innovation, with speaking engagements or published work in relevant defense and aerospace forums.
  • Certifications in Defense Acquisition
  • Top Secret Clearance

Work Environment

  • This role will be based in the DC area with flexibility for remote work and regular travel required to engage with defense stakeholders, government agencies, and international partners. Pay Range

$211,530 - $290,895 USD
