Summer 2026 Data & Process Analytics Intern

Divergent is a technology company that has architected, invented, built, and commercialized an end-to-end factory system called the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS) that comprehensively uses machine learning to optimally engineer, additively manufacture, and flexibly assemble complex integrated vehicle structures and subsystems. Products created using DAPS are superior in performance, lower in cost, rapidly customizable to meet mission and customer-specific requirements, faster to market, and scalable on demand to high volume production. Divergent is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs, and Divergent is now expanding to support mission critical needs in the Aerospace and Defense sector. Duration: 12 weeks (summer 2026)

Location: Torrance, CA (onsite)

Purpose

We're looking for an enthusiastic student to help turn raw factory data into actionable insights for our simulation and decision support tools.

The Role

  • Instrument and capture structured data from production systems
  • Assist with model calibration and parameter estimation for our discrete event simulation
  • Prototype visual dashboards and reporting tools (Python, Excel)
  • Document data workflows and contribute to tool-design discussions

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • Undergraduate or first-year master's in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or Data Science
  • Coursework or projects in process modeling, optimization, or simulation
  • Comfortable with Python (pandas, matplotlib, SimPy optional) and Excel
  • Curious about manufacturing operations and how data supports decisions

Pay Range: $38 - $45 USD
