About the role:
The Senior People Business Partner is a “client centric” individual responsible for providing both tactical and strategic people management support, advice and guidance to people leaders and employees in designated functional teams across the global company. The position formulates partnerships across the People function to deliver value-added services to people leaders and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. In this role of Senior People Business Partner, you will be part of an amazing, energetic and dynamic team.
In addition, this role serves as a key employee relations connection point, and liaison between the business and the internal People team. You will be comfortable being hands on while also leading challenging projects and situations as D-Wave continues to grow.
NOTE: This is a full-time hybrid role and requires you to be onsite in the Burnaby location a minimum of 1 day per week.

What you'll do:

    • Build collaborative partnerships and coach managers to build a high performing culture within their respective teams to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
    • Maintain a close “pulse” of the employees to support a high level of employee engagement. Oversee stages of an employees’ lifecycle, including, check-ins, purposeful conversations and exit interviews
    • Understand the organization's talent strategy, talent plan(s) and talent supply chain both internal and external and apply the talent acquisition, workforce planning and total reward solutions to meet business talent needs
    • Partner with managers to identify opportunities for learning and development based on department needs
    • Provide meaningful guidance to managers through the employee relations process while ensuring the best outcome for the business, aligned with applicable labour and employment law standards
    • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Escalate cases and partner with the Legal department as needed/required
    • Promote, educate, and support development and implementation of Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and programs across all functions of the business
    • Draw upon Centres of Excellence expertise within the People team to harness and deliver required resources and services to the business
    • As assigned, participate in a wide range of both HR and management/departmental projects
    • Promote the D-Wave brand across the organization and within the community

What you'll bring:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business preferred with 3+ years of broad generalist experience and 2+ years as a dedicated People Business Partner within a technology industry; Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CPHR) is a plus
    • Experience in broad areas of Human Resources (e.g., Performance Management, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Business Partnering, Organizational Development, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, Reporting & Data Analysis, Learning & Development, Immigration, etc.) with a particular strength in building strong business partner relationships
    • You bring good “HR sensibilities’ and trust your gut when balancing employee care-abouts with what is best for the organization
    • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and discover root causes by probing and using data analysis and critical thinking while maintaining a big-picture perspective
    • Ability to translate strategic goals and concepts into action plans and implementing initiatives at an operational level
    • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and rolling with a changing, fast paced start-up environment
    • Tech savvy, curious, and have a passion for continuous learning
    • Genuine empathy for others and a strong desire to move the business forward
    • You have an informal, open, and collaborative style and value attention to detail
    • Experience with HR Systems (Bamboo, Lever, SharePoint, Confluence, etc.) would be valuable
The Canadian national average salary range for this role is $72,400 to $115,000. The disclosed range reflects the average base salary minimum and maximum target for new hires in the position in Canada. The respective salary range for the successful candidate will be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. Actual compensation within the range is based on factors including but not limited to relevant education, skills, licenses, training and certification, experience, as well as business needs.

In addition to base salary, this role is also eligible to participate in our Annual Incentive Plan (Bonus plan), equity grants and programs, PTO, and a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, STD, LTD, and Travel Insurance.
