Manufacturing Engineer II

Echodyne offers the world's first compact solid-state true beam-steering radar for a wide range of industries and applications. Our high-performance radars work in all weather and are designed for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft & drones, and security of borders, critical infrastructure, and smart cities. The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM).

Echodyne is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to join our fast-growing team! The Manufacturing Engineer II will play a key role in developing, optimizing, and deploying processes to enhance Echodyne's production systems. Under the general guidance from their manager, this individual will collaborate with engineering, quality, IT, and production teams to drive efficiency, improve process robustness, and support automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Methods Improvements
    • Work with IT, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to develop tools that improve consistency, integrity, efficiency, and agility of business and production processes.
    • Implement and refine production controls to ensure correct materials, processes, and testing are used and all required processing is completed.
    • Establish and refine means of ensuring process correctness, completeness, and record-keeping.
    • Define and implement automated data collection and dissemination systems.
    • Create and maintain routing plans that define how products are built, from PCBA to the final product.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Program Management, IT, and Supply Chain teams to launch high-quality, highly producible products.
    • Provide DFM/DFT input and influence during the design phase.
    • Design and document manufacturing processes by breaking down designs into practical assembly steps, workstations, tools, fixtures, and instruments.
    • Lead production line set-up and process verification/validation.
  • Sustaining Production Support
    • Provide and maintain assembly and test documentation.
    • Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis efforts.
    • Manage process yield control, KPI design, and reporting. Proactively initiate and lead corrective actions and continuous improvement.
    • Provide technical support for supply chain and quality issues; liaise with Engineering, Materials, Quality, and suppliers as needed.

Required Skills / Experience

  • Strong comprehension of assembly drawings, schematics, and technical documents, and ability to use them in production control and failure analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with basic electronics, including assembly, handling, and functional testing of delicate electronic systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and process development skills.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of production workflows, including assembly and testing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement manufacturing processes and drive automation.
  • Ability to design and build test fixtures.
  • Effective collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills / Experience

In this role, you will build many of the skills listed below. Previous experience in one or more of these areas is preferred but not required.

  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and related production control tools.
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office, Excel, CAD/SolidWorks. (Python and MATLAB is a plus)
  • Proficiency in statistical techniques and data driven problem solving.
  • Experienced with a variety of manufacturing processes such as machining, laser cutting, surface finishing (paint, powder, chemical/ceramic coatings), adhesive bonding, labeling, and material selection to ensure robust, high quality assemblies.
  • Skilled in using 3D printing technology for prototyping, tooling, and production support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role.
  • Experience/knowledge in quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485).

The pay range for this position is $101,000 - $135,000 annually. Our comprehensive benefits package currently includes:
