Senior Technician

Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you've come to the right place!

E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.

We're intentional, we're unapologetically curious and we're 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.

The E-Space Manufacturing Solar Team builds the world's most advanced aerospace products.

The Senior Technician will rely on superb 'hands-on' mechanical and electrical ability to diagnose and repair electro-mechanical components of thin film semiconductor equipment. He will be expected to assist with modification, installation and rebuild of critical components for vacuum equipment, including valves, actuators, motors, pumps, sensors and power supplies. Skillful use of power and hand tools is required, in addition to electrical test ability using volt-ohm-amp meters, ability to read schematics and understand technical documentation.

This individual will be one of a small team of "go-to experts" who become critical when'something stopped working right', or when disassembly, modification and rebuild are required, followed by test before start-up. The Senior Technician will work closely with equipment and maintenance engineers, process engineers to allow complex equipment to perform reliably.

This position is based in Arlington, TX. In order to be successful in this role, you must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed. Occasional travel may be required as well.

What you'll be doing:

  • Follow written or verbal instruction for careful modification, replacement or installation of critical electrical and mechanical components on complex equipment.
  • Disassemble and diagnose failed components, and when necessary, make decisions to "repair vs. replace".
  • Diagnose causes of failure and decide on actions to repair.
  • Rebuild and install deposition sources that include complex mechanical parts, specialty materials, and electrical connections.
  • Diagnose problems based on close examination of mechanical assemblies, process characteristics and software diagnostics.
  • Measure voltages, currents or resistances as required to identify component problems.
  • Support scale-up from lab or pilot systems to high-volume roll-to-roll production.
  • Support performance improvement initiatives targeting efficiency, yield, reliability, and reproducibility.

What you will bring to this role:

  • B S in Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field, or having significant relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in repair and replacement of electrical and mechanical components.
  • Analytical mind with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability for complex equipment.
  • Skillful 'hands-on' ability with hand tools, power tools and electrical measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a multidisciplinary manufacturing and R&D environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical maintenance and assembly instructions, electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

Extra points for the following:

  • Experience working with hardware in systems run under PLC control.
  • Familiarity with machine shop equipment and operations.
  • Understanding of motor control systems, gear heads, drive systems.
  • Skilled with documentation using MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Skills with mechanical and electrical design software such as SolidWorks or Autocad Electrical.

This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Arlington, TX office.

We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we're looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that's your experience – then we'll be immediately wow-ed.

E-Space is not currently able to provide employment sponsorship for candidates who do not hold work authorization for the location of this role.

Why E-Space is right for you:

As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving our success.
