About MISUMI Americas
MISUMI Americas, a division of MISUMI Group, is a leading provider of standard, configurable, and custom manufacturing solutions. By integrating a vast catalog of components with a world-class digital manufacturing platform, MISUMI Americas empowers engineers and procurement teams to accelerate innovation across the entire product lifecycle. With operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago, the company serves as a vital partner for the most innovative companies in the Americas.
Impact In This Role:
As the Director of Product Management, you will own the product strategy and integrated roadmap across multiple product domains at MISUMI Americas, including catalog platform and search, e-commerce platform experience, supply chain, customer experience, and business systems. You will champion a significant product organization, directing both senior individual contributors and people managers to translate high-level company strategy into actionable, impact-driven roadmaps that deliver measurable results.
Serving as the vital link between executive leadership, Engineering, Design, Operations, and Go-To-Market teams, you ensure we are solving the most critical problems with increasing speed and precision. You will operate as both a visionary leader and a hands-on navigator, establishing clear direction while actively resolving trade-offs and elevating the standard of excellence across our expanding product management organization.
You will report to the VP, Product Management.
What You'll Be Doing:
Domain strategy and portfolio leadership
- Own the product strategy and integrated roadmap across multiple domain areas, ensuring investments are focused on the highest-value opportunities for customers and the business
- Translate company strategy and commercial priorities into a coherent, well-sequenced domain roadmap with clear goals, milestones, and business rationale
- Build and maintain a strong domain-level perspective on the competitive landscape, customer needs, operational constraints, and technology capabilities
- Identify and resolve cross-domain dependencies and tradeoffs, driving alignment across product areas so that team roadmaps are mutually reinforcing rather than at odds
- Develop business cases for significant investments and secure alignment across the management team and senior stakeholders
Team leadership and PM development
- Lead, develop, and manage a substantial product management organization that includes both individual contributor PMs and PM managers — building a high-performing team with strong product judgment, communication discipline, and execution rigor
- Coach PMs on discovery, prioritization, scoping, stakeholder alignment, launch readiness, and outcome measurement — raising the quality bar across all dimensions of the craft
- Create a collaborative, accountable team culture where PMs are growing in independence, taking ownership, and delivering results with minimal escalation
- Drive consistent standards for roadmap development, requirements definition, goal-setting, and retrospective learning across the team
- Contribute to talent strategy, including hiring, onboarding, and long-term development planning for the PM organization
Cross-functional alignment and stakeholder partnership
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with Engineering, Design, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Finance leadership to ensure product direction is well understood and collaboratively shaped
- Serve as the primary escalation point for cross-functional issues within the domain, driving resolution through clear communication, good judgment, and constructive tradeoff decisions
- Represent the product domain in senior leadership and executive forums, communicating strategy, roadmap status, tradeoffs, and results with clarity and confidence
- Foster a cross-functional environment where information flows freely, decisions are made at the right level, and teams trust each other to deliver
Roadmap execution and operational discipline
- Ensure PMs maintain the rigor and discipline needed to deliver against priorities: clear requirements, well-managed scope, proactive risk identification, and tight coordination with Engineering and Design
- Establish and track meaningful input and output metrics across the domain, using quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate impact, inform prioritization, and drive continuous improvement
- Drive successful product launches by ensuring all functions — Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Support — are prepared and aligned
- Maintain visibility into team-level execution, surfacing progress and risks to leadership with candor and regularity
- Apply Agile methodologies thoughtfully, helping teams structure their work for sustainable velocity and predictable delivery
- Travel approximately 15% annually for team collaboration, customer research, partner visits, and industry engagement
Experience:
Required
- 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 4 years leading and managing a multi-layered PM organization that includes both individual contributors and people managers
- Demonstrated success leading product strategy and execution for a large-catalog B2B or B2C e-commerce platform — experience with catalog scale (hundreds of thousands to millions of SKUs), search and navigation, pricing display and transactional workflows is required
- Track record of building and maintaining integrated roadmaps across multiple teams or product areas, including managing cross-domain dependencies and stakeholder alignment.
- Proven ability to develop PM talent — hiring, coaching, and growing product managers into more senior and independent contributors
- Experience building and gaining senior leadership alignment on product strategy, business cases, and investment prioritization
- Strong background in cross-functional collaboration, with demonstrated experience partnering with Engineering, Design, Operations, and commercial functions to deliver meaningful outcomes
- Experience using customer insights, operational data, and business metrics to drive strategic product decisions and roadmap evolution
- Experience with Agile methodologies and the ability to apply them to drive execution discipline at the team level
Skills
- Strategic thinking: ability to synthesize business goals, customer insights, operational realities, and technology constraints into a clear, prioritized product direction
- People leadership: proven ability to develop product managers — coaching for growth, delivering honest feedback, and building a high-performing, high-trust team
- Strong analytical skills: ability to evaluate opportunity size, build business cases, and use data to drive high-quality decisions across a complex product portfolio
- Excellent communication: able to articulate strategy and tradeoffs clearly to both executive audiences and cross-functional teams, in writing and in conversation
- Influence without authority: builds trust and earns credibility across Engineering, Operations, and commercial functions through strong judgment, follow-through, and genuine partnership
- Results orientation: focused on outcomes, not just output — able to hold the team accountable to impact while navigating ambiguity and change
- Comfortable navigating systems with deep interdependencies and integrations, including large-scale catalog, transactional, and operational platforms
- Active and advancing AI practice: uses AI tools as a genuine accelerant across discovery, synthesis, prototyping, and decision-making — and is actively building toward team-level AI workflows that raise the collective capability of the PM organization, not just personal efficiency
- Working understanding of how AI is reshaping the product management role — including which PM activities are being automated, which are becoming more valuable, and what that means for how to recruit, develop, and evaluate a product team in this environment
Preferred
- Experience in or exposure to new hardware product development, factory automation, or mechanical/industrial engineering — understanding of the engineering workflows that drive demand for industrial components
- Background in industrial parts supply, distribution, or manufacturing supply chain, including familiarity with how procurement teams and engineers source mechanical components
- Experience managing product platforms with complex configurability requirements — such as parametric search, attribute-based filtering, or custom order logic at scale
- Familiarity with business systems and operational tooling (e.g., ERP integrations, OMS, WMS) and how they intersect with customer-facing product experiences
