We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Technician to join the Electrical Engineering team here at Firefly. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our engineering efforts by providing technical assistance and expertise in the development, testing, and maintenance of systems and components. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-reliability soldering and desoldering of electronic components on space-grade circuit cards, including through-hole, surface-mount, fine-pitch parts.
  • Remove and replace components on multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs) using soldering irons, hot air rework stations, and precision tools while meeting hardware quality standards.
  • Perform trace cuts and install jumper wires of varying gauge sizes to implement design modifications or engineering change orders (ECOs) on both prototype and flight hardware.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and repair electronic circuit cards at the component level using schematics, board views, test procedures.
  • Conduct functional and environmental testing of assembled or repaired circuit cards to verify performance using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test instruments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and disciplined laboratory/workstation environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of configuration, rework actions, and test results.
  • Follow established procedures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Assist in the procurement of materials and components necessary for engineering projects, including sourcing, ordering, and inventory management.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience working as a technician in the aerospace industry, preferably in a research and development or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with precision tools and electronic testing instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and aerospace regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA) is a plus
