Deburr Technician

As a Deburr Technician at Impulse, you will be responsible for manufacturing machined and printed components and structures for spacecraft.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform precision deburring, surface finishing on tight-tolerance machined parts for space flight hardware using hand tools, rotary tools, and abrasives.
  • Inspect parts and ensure all components meet drawing specifications, and engineering requirements
  • Chase threads, cut threads, and install thread inserts
  • Perform cleaning operations required for space flight hardware
  • Review work instructions and specifications, and complete work buyoffs electronically as the work is being performed. Follow detailed work instructions, travelers, and engineering drawings.
  • Hand drilling, match drilling, step drilling, tapping, countersinking, and chamfering using pneumatic drills and hand tools
  • Collaborate closely with machinists, quality inspectors, and engineers to resolve deburring-related issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve deburring processes, tooling, and techniques for complex geometries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area consistent with 5S and FOD prevention standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ year of hands-on hardware manufacturing experience in a production environment

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with drilling, reaming, countersinking tight-tolerance holes using electric or pneumatic tools, specifically on in-space hardware
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints. Understands drawing symbols, flag notes, and section views
  • Understands GD&T, and understands which features can be reworked to meet GD&T requirements

Additional Information: Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
