Manufacturing Engineer (Tube Shop)

As a Manufacturing Engineer (Tube Shop) at Impulse, you will support the build of flight-critical tube assemblies for spacecraft propulsion, fluid transfer, and structural subsystems. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for developing, qualifying, and improving the fabrication processes for rigid and flexible tubing, including bending, flaring, swaging, welding, and assembly.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, validate, and continuously improve tube fabrication processes including CNC tube bending, end preparation, TIG welding, and assembly
  • Author and maintain detailed work instructions, process flows, and define custom tooling or fixtures as needed
  • Serve as the go-to technical resource for technicians on the floor. Troubleshoot build issues in real time
  • Collaborate with design and integration engineers to ensure tube routing and assembly designs are producible and optimized for scale
  • Ensure all operations meet strict aerospace process controls. Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for non-conformances

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in a manufacturing engineering role (aerospace or high-precision industries preferred)
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with tube bending, welding, or assembly (orbital welding, Swagelok, or Parker fittings a plus)
  • Demonstrated hands-on, shop-floor experience and comfort working directly with technicians and tooling

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience with tubes & welded assemblies for rocket
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and aerospace drawing standards
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and process specifications
  • Welding engineering or metallurgical background

Additional Information: Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
