California, US residents click here. The job details are as follows: United Therapeutics seeks to travel down the corridors of indifference to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter's pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF). The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create manufactured organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant.
The mission of the Organ Manufacturing group (OMG) within United Therapeutics is to develop novel technology focusing on creating 3D printed, bioengineered lung scaffolds with the key biological functions that are ready for transplantation. The Assembly Technician II will contribute to the operation of an active R&D laboratory through the preparation and assembly of laboratory tubing sets, supplies, solutions mixing and other various support tasks in and out of the lab as needed. Follow detailed assembly instructions to construct medical and laboratory device components using small parts and hand tools in a manual process with little to no instruction. Package completed assemblies for sterilization, perform autoclave runs, and ensure accurate documentation of sterilization cycles with minimal supervision. Assist with in-lab activities, including aseptic preparation of cell culture media, sterile filtration or cleaning lab supplies, and apply working knowledge to complete tasks with increasing independence. Perform daily monitoring and restocking of assembly supplies, ensure proper supply cycling using first in first out practices, and proactively monitor expiration dates to maintain inventory accuracy. Maintain laboratory organization and ensure the work environment remains tidy by applying a solid understanding of safety and quality expectations. Follow procedures and SOPs and demonstrate an ability to resolve routine issues or process deviations, escalating non-standard problems to the team lead or supervisor. Identify process improvements and potential solutions during in-process work and consult with the manager or others to evaluate and refine these ideas. Communicate within the team regarding issues and troubleshooting needs, providing clear context and supporting the resolution of routine challenges. May handle chemicals, human tissue, cells, and/or materials that come into contact with human cells that may carry infectious agents. Shall comply with appropriate safety procedures and exercise universal precautions.
