How you'll contribute:
As a 2026 SLED Intern, you will contribute to real, high-impact innovation projects spanning AI, data analytics, automation, digital health, and R&D enablement. You will work closely with the Do-iT! team and cross-functional partners on initiatives that support UT's innovation programs — including The Big Idea SPRINTS (projects not short-listed for the Shark Tank), Do-iT! Labs experiments, and internal AI application.
The Summer Learning, Experimentation & Discovery (SLED) program is the Dept of Innovative Technology's innovation internship designed to give students a front-row seat to the technologies shaping the future of biotech — from Biology, AI/ML to digital twins, organ-manufacturing science, and open innovation.
Support digital innovation initiatives, such as developing prototypes, dashboards, automation scripts, or AI-driven tools.
Participate in Do-iT! Labs experiments involving emerging technologies (AI agents, sensors, workflow automation, digital twin concepts, robotics, etc.).
Assist with data analysis, research synthesis, or technology scouting to inform innovation decisions.
Contribute to The Big Idea open innovation program — reviewing submissions, preparing materials, helping with event logistics, and assisting teams during prototype development.
Explore and test new technologies (LLMs, copilots, automation platforms, rapid prototyping tools) under guidance.
Present findings, insights, or project outcomes during weekly check-ins and at end-of-summer presentations.
Work collaboratively across UT functions — R&D, Manufacturing, IT, Quality, Regulatory, and Corporate — depending on project assignments.
