Joby Custodial Technician
The Custodial Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of interior and exterior facilities and grounds. They will be required to travel between our Santa Cruz Site, and work autonomously. This role helps ensure a welcoming, safe, and functional environment for staff, visitors, and the public. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently but also supports a collaborative workplace and takes initiative to maintain high standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine custodial tasks: sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, wax, polish floors.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, fixtures, mirrors, showers, and dispensers
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles; transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Clean windows and glass partitions
- Maintain and operate custodial equipment
- Supply and maintain cleaning materials, restock consumables and report low inventory.
- Occasionally respond to emergency cleaning or sanitation issues
- Maintain signage for wet floors, hazards, and ensure safety compliance
- Work cooperatively with other facility staff, supervisors, and departments to support the overall facility operations.
Required
- At least 2-4 years of custodial/cleaning experience in a commercial, institutional or similar environment preferred.
- Ability to lift and move up to ~50 lbs, bend, kneel, stoop, climb ladders, and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, materials, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license
Desired
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to read, understand and follow written instructions, labels and safety data sheets (SDS)
- Floor care experience (stripping, sealing, buffing, carpet extraction).
- Experience with event setup/takedown in facility settings.
- Ability to operate power equipment (carpet/upholstery cleaners, burnishers)
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $20-$23/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
