Joby Aviation Internship

Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate and driven intern to join our flight test instrumentation team. This role involves designing, installing, and troubleshooting instrumentation hardware in Joby aircraft. A can-do attitude is a must for this fast-paced environment in which every team member relies on each other to perform to their highest potential. Previous experience with flight test activities is desirable.

Responsibilities

  1. Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  2. Help develop manuals and supporting documentation necessary to operate flight test instrumentation systems.
  3. Complete required documentation in accordance with established company and FAA procedures.
  4. Install and troubleshoot instrumentation systems on aircraft and in the ground control station.

Required

  • Pursuing or has completed a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with day-to-day applications used for email, word processing, etc.
  • Data analysis experience using LabVIEW, Matlab, Python, or similar tools.
  • Mechanical design or manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with colleagues across a wide range of technical disciplines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, work extended hours, and travel as required.
  • Proficiency in reading and speaking English.

Desired

  • Previous experimental flight test experience, preferably related to eVTOL or UAS.
  • Hands-on experience in motor sports and/or electric vehicles (e.g., AIAA Design, Build, Fly; Formula SAE).
  • Heading into junior or senior year of an undergraduate degree or above by the start of the internship.
  • Experience with CATIA tool.

The pay range for undergraduate interns, including freshman to senior-level students, is $22.00 - $31.00/hour. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor, Master, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,550 - $7,800/month.

Relocation Assistance: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
