Global Supply Manager (GSM) Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Global Supply Manager (GSM) Intern to support our supply chain, sourcing, and procurement operations. As a GSM Intern, you will play an active role in driving supplier strategies, optimizing costs, and ensuring supply chain resilience for our eVTOL aircraft and peripheral systems.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, RFx processes, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams. You will help evaluate supplier performance, analyze industry trends, and support supplier development initiatives to ensure Joby's supply chain operates at best-in-class efficiency, cost, and quality standards.

Internship Details:

  • Start Date: May 2026 (flexible).
  • Duration: 12+ weeks (Summer 2025, with potential extension into Fall).
  • Location: On-site (Full-time, 40 hours per week).
  • Eligibility: Open to students actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates should apply for full-time roles.
  • International Students: If applying with CPT authorization, ensure you can legally work 40 hours per week on-site before applying.

Responsibilities

  • Support RFQ processes—prepare, issue, and analyze supplier proposals to negotiate optimal cost, terms, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal) to identify and qualify suppliers for key components.
  • Assist in supplier contract negotiations, including NDAs, Terms & Conditions, and Purchase Price Agreements.
  • Conduct benchmarking and competitive analysis to ensure Joby's commodity pricing meets industry-leading standards.
  • Work with suppliers to implement cost-reduction and value engineering initiatives.

Supplier Performance & Relationship Management

  • Monitor supplier performance using scorecards, data analysis, and business reviews.
  • Assist in resolving supplier quality, delivery, and compliance issues.
  • Participate in design and manufacturability reviews, providing a cost and supply chain perspective.
  • Contribute to supply risk mitigation strategies, such as multi-sourcing, supplier development, and inventory buffers.

Data-Driven Supply Chain Optimization

  • Analyze industry trends, raw material pricing, and lead-time fluctuations to proactively identify supply risks and opportunities.
  • Utilize forecasting, demand planning, and material inventory analysis to optimize supply chain resilience.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management

  • Lead project tracking efforts, including Gantt charts, action trackers, and reporting dashboards.
  • Communicate supply chain updates, cost issues, and risk assessments to stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing supplier qualification plans, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Data Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Experience with RFx processes, purchasing, or procurement tools is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, Tableau, JIRA, or Confluence is a plus.
  • Prior internship or work experience in supply chain, procurement, or project management is a plus.

Relocation Assistance: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

The pay range for undergraduate interns, which includes rising junior to senior level students, is $20-26/hr. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor's, Master's, and/or Ph.D. degree in progress or completed is $5,550-$6,600/month. Individual pay is determined by internship role, department, experience, job-related skills, and level of education.
