Production Process Technician
Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate Production Process Technician to join our Powertrain & Electronics team to be the go-to person for executing advanced processes against new and/or complex documentation. The ideal candidate knows how important root-cause identification, communication, and attention to detail are for high quality and high velocity manufacturing. The ideal candidate values issue resolution with focus and motivation. The role works cross-functionally with manufacturing engineering, planning, quality, continuous improvement, design engineering, supply chain, and more. The role operates in a fast paced and rewarding environment with high expectations for individual and team contribution.
Responsibilities:
- Be an expert responder to process issues in Powertrain & Electronics Production
- Be an excellent reporter and documenter of complex technical topics in verbal and written communication
- Execute reworks and repairs on a breadth of Powertrain & Electronics parts
- Collaborate cross-functionally on process problems to root-cause and put in place corrective actions
- Drive the resolution of quality issues
- Develop and maintain 4S+S in the area of the factory where parts with issues are contained, dispositioned, reworked, and repaired
- Participate in kaizen and 4S+S activities across production lines, collaborating with Continuous Improvement
- Review and provide feedback on manufacturing process documentation to Process Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering
- Work alongside Production Technicians in pilot and production manufacturing
Required:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in manufacturing or equivalent
- Hands-on electromechanical skills
- Demonstrate organizational skills and attention to details
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Desired:
- Prior experience working in early-phase pilot and production of complex parts
- Understanding of bills of material (BOM) and manufacturing execution systems (MES)
- Experience with light industrial environments
- Experience working on high-voltage systems and/or complex electromechanical systems
- Experience creating and following manufacturing procedures
- Experience in basic wiring and diagnostics
- Power BI, Jira, First Resonance Ion experience
- Experience in lean manufacturing
Additional Information:
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $27-$37/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
