Joby Aviation Production Supervisor

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate Production Supervisor to join our powertrain and electronics team to lead the production of electric propulsion units (EPUs) for our VTOL electric aircraft. The ideal candidate knows how to setup production technicians to succeed at safety, quality, and quantity with focus, motivation, and joy. The role works cross-functionally with safety, quality, planning, continuous improvement, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, supply chain, and more teams. The role operates in a fast paced and rewarding environment with high expectations for individual and team contribution.

Responsibilities

1. Build and lead a capable and motivated production team, focused on safety, quality, and quantity
2. Execute across the safety, quality, and quantity goals on an aggressive production schedule
3. Set objectives and priorities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
4. Ensure production technicians learn and perform manufacturing processes to for-flight conformance standards.
5. Lead production technicians' use of our manufacturing execution system (MES).
6. Work with the cross functional team to development and implement new manufacturing processes
7. Drive the resolution of quality issues including root cause analysis.
8. Lead kaizen and 5S efforts on production floor.
9. Review and provide feedback on manufacturing process documentation
10. Work alongside production technicians and associates during pilot and production manufacturing.

Required

• Minimum 2 years of experience leading people teams
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a production environment or equivalent
• Experience recruiting and developing production personnel
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate clearly

Desired

• Previous experience working in early-phase pilot and production of complex parts
• Understanding of bills of material (BOM) and manufacturing execution systems (MES)
• Experience conducting on-the-job (OTJ) training
• Experience with light industrial environments
• Experience working on high-voltage systems and/or complex electromechanical systems
• Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies
• Experience writing and following manufacturing procedures
• Proficiency with machining, welding, and overall mechanical craftsmanship is a plus
• Experience in basic wiring and diagnostics
• Experience with mechanical component assembly and systems integration of mechanical systems
• IPC J-STD, 610 certification
• Atlassian Jira, First Resonance Ion experience
• Experience in lean manufacturing

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $88,200 - $159,700 annual salary. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
