Joby Software Engineer

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

We're looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service. As an integral member of our software team, you will play a leading role in bringing the production of our eVTOL to Industry 4.0. You will be responsible for conception and development of software services interacting with everything from large production machines to your colleagues, users, and everything in between - driving automation and coherence to existing regulations in this new type of industry. With your development skills, you will drive the integration of our production machines and the connection to all related production data, significantly advancing automation to the greatest extent possible.

Responsibilities

• Developing and iterating on the front ends for various bespoke software services in our manufacturing environment
• Developing robust and effective user experiences optimized for our use cases
• Collaborating with designers and product managers to refine and improve UX deliverables
• Optimization of the existing frameworks to increase the performance
• Tailoring user experiences to work well on desktop and mobile devices
• Collaboration with internal stakeholders to determine and coordinate requirements and functions
• Collaboration with external stakeholders, customers, users, and providers to determine optimal strategies and system stability

Required

• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering and
• 5+ Years of software engineering experience
• Feedback-oriented work experience (direct (internal) customer contact)
• Experience in working with complex projects and agile working methods
• Advanced proficiency with React or similar packages
• Working proficiency with JavaScript, Typescript and HTML
• Working proficiency with state-of-the-art Front End testing libraries
• Working proficiency with working with RESTful and/or GraphQL web services web services

Desired

• Confident handling of GitHub-based CI/CD
• Feedback-oriented work attitude
• Experience in working independently in international teams
• Experience with AI-assisted software development
• Ideally, experience in the production sector

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $153,000 - $243,400/y.

The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
