Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We've designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We're looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Responsibilities

  • Drive complex autonomy and systems programs from definitions through execution, ensuring delivery of milestones that advance certification, safety and commercialization
  • Lead scope, prioritization, and decision making in ambiguous environments; clarify paths forward where there is no playbook
  • Translate between engineering, certification, operation, and business: understand autonomy, electronics hardware, avionics, flight control and certification constraints while keeping program outcomes front and center
  • Build alignment across stakeholders: engineering, flight test, certification, manufacturing, operations, executive leadership and external partners
  • Proactively identify risks and trade-offs in technology, schedule, and resources; lead structured discussions to resolve conflicts
  • Establish processes and program structures that scale while still adapting to the pace of rapid innovations
  • Champion autonomy readiness and integration into aircraft development, ensuring regulatory, operational and market needs are met

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field
  • Proven program experiences in advanced technology development– ideally autonomy, robotics, aerospace, automotive or related industries
  • Strong ability to manage scope, uncertainty and complexity– with a record of delivering programs where success wasn't guaranteed
  • Solid technical literacy in one or more areas: autonomy/AI, Avionics, embedded systems, controls, powertrain, aerospace engineering, or system integration
  • Exceptional communications skills: able to engage with executive leadership as well as technical teams, or operational mechanics
  • Demonstrated ability to drive decision making across stakeholders with diverse priorities
  • Comfortable building structure out of ambiguity while keeping teams energized and mission focused

Desired

  • Masters degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field
  • Experience in safety-critical or regulated environments is a strong plus
  • Experiences with vertical integration, cutting-edge technologies' introduction
