Wanna join the adventure? Loft Orbital is seeking a Technical Program Manager to support our Software Products function, which is dedicated to delivering and operating the software that powers Loft's space missions. This function comprises the Cockpit and Onboard Software teams, which work together to provide the mission planning, payload management, and flight operations tools essential for reliable satellite operations.

As a Technical Program Manager, you'll drive process definition and improvements, support delivery of sophisticated software systems across multiple teams and programs, and align technical priorities through regular planning efforts that help make space access simpler, faster, and more reliable for our customers. Success in this role means enabling impactful collaboration throughout a fast-paced, international environment - helping Loft Orbital lead the way in deploying and operating innovative mission software at scale.

About This Role:

  • Represent Software Products teams for program and mission development activities, attending key meetings. Monitor progress and communicate changes in priorities, schedules, risks, and dependencies.
  • Support team leads in roadmap planning, requirements gathering, and monthly/quarterly deliverable reviews
  • Encourage and enforce best practices in deliverable tracking and reporting using Jira and Confluence
  • Identify and address process inefficiencies, propose experiments, and implement solutions (often through automation)
  • Act as the point of contact for stakeholders regarding the status, risks, and dependencies of major software initiatives
  • Drive and support Agile-based software development, improving visibility, processes, and documentation
  • Foster cross-team and cross-office collaboration, helping teams work efficiently across different time zones

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years of technical program/project management experience (preferably in software)
  • Strong proficiency with Jira and Confluence
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a high-autonomy environment
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating Agile development teams (Scrum, Kanban, or similar)
  • Analytical mindset; able to develop processes to address operational challenges, automating whenever possible
  • Strong interpersonal skills; capable of influencing others without formal authority
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop materials for an executive audience
  • Ability to travel at least once per quarter for cross-office collaboration

Nice to Haves:

  • Background in tech startups, space industry, or organizations building both hardware and software solutions
  • Experience in product management or working closely with product teams
  • Proficiency with Python or automation/scripting in software engineering environments
  • Professional exposure to international teams working across time zones
  • Experience managing projects for embedded systems, distributed platforms, or constellation-scale software

Some of Our Awesome Benefits:

  • Equity, we want you to have an active role in our success
  • Up to 35 days of Paid Time Off (vacations & RTT) and flexible working hours, we want you to be at your best
  • Health and life insurance, we care about your health
  • Lunch Vouchers, because let's be honest, we love food! (we even have a slack channel about it)
  • Cross-office travel opportunities between San Francisco, Colorado, and Toulouse to learn from our differences
  • Company and team off-sites and many other events to work & celebrate together
  • Relocation assistance to Toulouse when applicable

Who We Are

Loft Orbital builds "shareable" satellites, providing a fast & simple path to orbit for organizations that require access to space. Powered by our hardware & software products, we operate satellites, fly customer payloads onboard, and handle entire missions from end to end - significantly reducing the lead-time and risk of a traditional space mission.

Our standard interface enables us to fly multiple customer payloads on the same satellite, with capabilities such as earth imagery, weather & climate/science data collection, IoT connectivity, in-orbit demonstrations, and national security missions. Our customers trust us to manage their space infrastructure, so they can focus on what matters most to them: operating their mission and collecting their data.

At Loft, you'll be given the autonomy and ownership to solve significant challenges, but with a close-knit and supportive team at your back. We believe that diversity and community are the foundation of an open culture. We are committed to hiring the best people regardless of background and make their time at Loft the most fulfilling period of their career.

We value kind, supportive and team-oriented collaborators. It is also crucial for us that you are a problem solver and a great communicator. As our team is international, you will need strong English skills to better collaborate, easily communicate complex ideas and convey important messages.

With 6 satellites on-orbit and a wave of exciting missions launching soon, we are scaling up quickly across our offices in San Francisco, CA | Golden, CO | and Toulouse, France.

As an international company your resume will be reviewed by people across our offices so please attach a copy in English.
