Simulation Engineering Intern
As a Simulation Engineering Intern at Lunar Outpost, you will play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of simulation models used to test our robotic systems under various scenarios. This internship will provide you with a comprehensive view of the simulation process in robotic systems development, from conceptual modeling to the detailed analysis of results. All interns will work directly alongside full-time engineers on real, engaging, and impactful projects, providing tangible value to Lunar Outpost products. This internship offers a truly end-to-end experience that promotes collaboration at every stage of autonomous robotic development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain simulation models for robotic systems using mathematical models
- Develop tools for analyzing simulation model performance and accuracy
- Conduct simulations to test the performance and reliability of robotic mechanisms and software algorithms
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to gather requirements and verify model accuracy
- Analyze simulation data to identify and resolve discrepancies in system behavior
- Document simulation procedures, results, and insights to guide future designs and improvements
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
- Experience with robotics simulation tools and software, including ROS2 and MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience in control theory and state estimation
- Experience with programming languages such as C++, C#, or Python
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Can effectively demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, while also excelling in collaboration and teamwork in an interdisciplinary environment
- Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills under pressure and in stressful situations

Mid-May (May 18, 2026) to early August (August 7, 2026). Start and end dates are flexible with the intern's school schedule. In-person, Monday - Friday in Arvada, Colorado.
