Electromechanical Technician III
The Electromechanical Technician III provides critical support for R&D activities and product development. This role involves building, testing, and maintaining complex equipment that integrates mechanical, electrical, and computer components. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work and can successfully navigate a project from a concept sketch to a functional prototype while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Build & Prototyping
- Fabrication: Assemble and build machinery using hand tools, power tools, soldering irons, welders, etc.
- Design Support: Assist the engineering team in determining product configurations based on utility and performance evaluations.
- Prototyping: Assist in developing build paths to move products from concept-stage sketches to functional prototypes.
Operations & Maintenance
- Equipment Operation: Operate specialized equipment, such as carbon growth and post-processing tools, as directed by the engineering team.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and daily inspections on tool sets and facility equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues with lab equipment, facility equipment, and electromechanical machinery.
- Lab Stewardship: Maintain lab cleanliness and organization in collaboration with the Lab Manager.
Documentation & Teamwork
- Technical Records: Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs), specification documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Task Reporting: Complete progress forms and document all test results to maintain accurate records of product development.
- Collaboration: Partner with engineers, scientists, and project leads to confirm resource availability and evaluate design performance. Ensure all work is done with an emphasis on safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., engineering, chemistry (molecular), experimental theoretical physics) OR Associate's degree AND 4+ years of hands-on experience assembling and proficiency using hand tools for equipment assembly and parts modification OR Military AND 4+ years of hands-on experience assembling and proficiency using hand tools for equipment assembly and parts modification OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND 5+ years of hands-on experience assembling and proficiency using hand tools for equipment assembly and parts modification OR equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements
- This role will require extended periods of standing in a laboratory environment
- This role will require ability to lift, push, pull, and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.
Compensations Range:
The expected base salary range for this position is between
$34.47 - $51.68
The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.
