Develops lithium-sulfur batteries and 3D graphene-based materials to enable higher-performance, more sustainable energy storage and advanced composites.

Process Engineer Intern

Lyten is leading an industrial revolution through Lyten 3D Graphene™, a breakthrough supermaterial unlocking a new generation of products — from lithium–sulfur batteries and energy storage systems to concrete admixtures, lightweight composites, and next-generation sensors that are revolutionizing industries. Together, these innovations are making a massive global improvement and driving real-world impact across energy, mobility, construction, and defense.

At Lyten, we believe the most meaningful careers begin with purpose — and with people who want to make a difference. We're not just developing advanced supermaterials — we're about to change the world as we know it, reshaping how energy is stored, how products are built, and how progress is made.

We're entering an exciting growth phase, scaling production across the U.S. and Europe and expanding our team of engineers, scientists, and innovators.

Apply now to join our team and be part of something bigger than yourself — where collaboration, creativity, and purpose come together to build the technologies that will define the next century.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Process Engineer Intern to join our advanced manufacturing team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with many steps in electrode manufacturing.

You will bridge the gap between engineering design and floor operations by documenting critical processes, performing data analysis, and supporting R&D initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Documentation & Knowledge Management

• Video Capture & Categorization: Record, categorize, and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for primary electrode processes (Mixing, Coating, Calendering, and Slitting).

• Digital Library Creation: Organize all recordings, images, and process summaries into SharePoint to build a robust training library for future operations.

2. Operations & Core Process Learning

• Continuous Improvement: Analyze floor operations to identify process bottlenecks or inefficiencies and propose optimization strategies.

• Cross-Shift Training: Partner with the Engineer-in-Charge to train technicians across multiple shifts on updated standard practices.

Key Deliverables

• End-of-Internship Presentation: Deliver a final compilation of findings, video/photo documentation, and process summaries to leadership.

• SharePoint Repository: A fully organized, searchable digital library of training videos and documentation.

• SOP Documentation: Finalized or advanced drafts for scale-up processes and pilot production QC guidelines.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Strong hands-on aptitude and comfort working in a manufacturing or laboratory environment alongside technicians.

Technical & Soft Skills

• Data Analysis: Ability to perform data analysis to back up process improvement recommendations.

• Communication: Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly to both operators and engineers.

• Media & Organization: Proficient in capturing/editing instructional media and managing digital spaces (e.g., SharePoint).

• Safety-First Mindset: Strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly when handling chemical formulations and manufacturing machinery.

What We Offer

• Direct mentorship from experienced battery and manufacturing engineers.

• Hands-on experience with production-scale and R&D battery manufacturing equipment.

• A collaborative, fast-paced environment at the forefront of clean energy technology.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, and safety glasses. Precise and repetitive handling of a range of material quantities. Use a fume hood to prepare samples. Operate analytical equipment at a bench. Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time. Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, printer, etc. in a fixed location.

Compensations Range:

The expected base salary range for this position is between $25.00 - $32.00. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
