Research and Development Technician

Maybell Quantum is building the hardware backbone of the quantum era. Our systems push the boundaries of cryogenics, RF engineering, and scalable infrastructure to make utility-scale quantum computing possible. We're a venture-backed startup growing quickly, and we're looking for outstanding talent ready to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative R&D environment.

The Role

We are seeking an R&D Technician to support our engineering and scientific teams in developing next-generation quantum hardware. This role is highly hands-on, working directly with cryogenic systems, RF components, and precision assemblies. You'll be responsible for building, maintaining, and testing hardware while ensuring smooth lab operations. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, enjoys problem-solving, and thrives in a collaborative environment where no two days look the same.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support experiments by preparing setups, monitoring test runs, and recording results.
  • Operate lab equipment and tools safely and effectively, following standard operating procedures.
  • Assemble, wire, and test hardware systems, including cryogenic equipment and RF wiring.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hardware and component-level issues under the guidance of research staff.
  • Maintain lab organization, inventory, and equipment calibration.
  • Document procedures, results, and improvements to support knowledge transfer across the team.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists to accelerate product development cycles.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in engineering, physics, or related technical field; or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a lab, manufacturing, or technical R&D environment.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and contribute to process improvements.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Experience with cryogenics, vacuum systems, or RF hardware is a plus but not required.
  • Excited to learn new skills in a fast-paced startup environment.

Don't meet every single requirement? We know that the best candidates don't always check every box. If you're excited about this role and think you have what it takes to contribute to our mission, we encourage you to apply anyway.

Compensation

Base Salary: $25/hr - $35/hr depending on experience and qualifications, eligible for overtime pay, with additional compensation in equity and bonus.
