- The Principal Autonomy Software Engineer will serve as the technical lead for autonomy, robotics, and machine learning software within the Advanced Capabilities Team. - Responsibilities include designing, building, and integrating airborne autonomy capabilities to assist pilots and enable cargo aircraft to operate without human pilots. - The role involves close collaboration with the R&D software engineering manager to align on team objectives and technology roadmaps. - The engineer will lead architecture design and perform trade-off analysis to balance short-term objectives with long-term goals. - The position requires collaboration with the R&D software team throughout the research, design, implementation, and testing phases of projects.

- The ideal candidate is an expert in autonomous systems and software, with a strong desire to develop technology that enables aircraft to fly autonomously. - They should possess hands-on experience and a theoretical background in robotics and autonomy, particularly in aerospace applications. - A generalist experience across the software stack, from embedded systems to high-level algorithms, is essential, along with deep specialist knowledge in relevant core areas. - The candidate should be comfortable leading a team of engineers, making key decisions, and guiding the technical direction of projects. - They must have a proven track record of providing technical leadership to teams of 5-7 engineers at various levels of experience.
