✨ About The Role

About the role

Muon seeks a Director of Programs  to lead Muon Space’s Programs efforts, responsible for successfully delivering solutions, products, and technology while managing cost and schedule baselines contracts with the U.S. Government and Commercial Organizations. The Program Manager will report to our VP of Business Development and collaborate closely with Muon Space’s engineering, product management, legal, finance, and operations departments. You will also support the portfolio's growth by fostering organic growth on existing contracts and supporting captures of new contracts.

As Director of Programs at Muon Space, you delight our customers and users with high-quality products and solutions delivered on time and on budget, meeting our contractual obligations. You are cognizant of how all the pieces need to come together for successful program execution and can turn that into well-organized roadmaps, schedules, and budgets that you then track throughout the program lifecycle. As lead of Muon’s Program efforts, you will mentor and coach Program Managers and be responsible for monitoring and ensuring successful execution of all of Muon’s contracts. You will support business development through proposals, RFI responses, customer engagement, and organic growth.

Responsibilities

  • Program Execution: Have full accountability for successful execution (cost, schedule, technical) of multiple current contracts. Update monthly financial actuals and forecasts. Provide monthly status updates to support Program Excellence Reviews.
  • Processes: Develop Muon Space’s Program Excellence Framework, a set of documented processes for program start-up, execution, and close-out. Leverage lessons learned and experience from prior programs, but tailor to how Muon Space  does business, to define lightweight processes for functions such as financial management, risk management, contractual deliveries, and monitoring performance.
  • Agile Development: Act as Business Owner and/or Product Owner for contract-related technologies. Support product management and system architects on solutions engineering. Actively participate in major Agile ceremonies, such as PI planning.
  • Growth and Strategy: Lead or support proposal development as requested. Define and execute growth strategies for current and follow-on contracts. Support product management in company roadmaps by being the voice of the customer on their needs.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience working in a product management role or program management.
  • Experienced leader able to build a plan, build a team, and execute with clear ownership and minimal oversight.
  • Direct experience with space or aerospace  industry program planning and execution.
  • Proven ability to manage technical development and/or R&D scope and technical teams.
  • Experience working with business development on USG captures and supporting and/or leading proposals.
  • Confident understanding of Agile product development and technology development lifecycle processes.
  • Continuous learner that is not afraid to lead through uncertainty, take chances, and learn from his/her mistakes.
  • Consistently takes initiative and champions causes that need to be addressed.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence to interact and empathize with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams, and customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced development environment.
  • Able to travel CONUS up to 25% of time.
  • Able to obtain a security clearance.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience managing United States Government (USG) programs.
  • Current and active security clearance.
  • Experience with remote sensing satellite development and/or mission operations.
  • Experience working with a diverse set of U.S. Government DoD, IC and Civil customers.
  • Experienced with large competitive captures.
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes and system architectures.

At Muon Space salary is only part of our total compensation package. In addition to salary, Muon Space provides equity compensation as well as benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan, life insurance, and an employee development program. We also offer three weeks paid vacation for new employees, along with 12 paid holidays and unlimited sick time, along with paid parental leave to name a few of our benefits.

The salary range for this role is 100K-200K and will depend on a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.

ITAR/EAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. protected person as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
