Nu Quantum - Shaping The Future Of Technology

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Cambridge, UK

Visa Sponsorship available

Nu Quantum is creating the Entanglement Fabric for quantum computing scale-out. Quantum computing can solve some of the world's biggest problems, but these applications require systems that are thousands of times more powerful than those available today.

Our networking architecture will unlock data centre-scale quantum computing by weaving together quantum processors to accelerate the path to fault-tolerance and transformational utility. Founded in 2018, Nu Quantum is a spin-out of the University of Cambridge's Cavendish Laboratory.

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join us at Nu Quantum as we expand our engineering team and need dedicated support for DevOps and IT Infrastructure. You will define best practices, implement CI/CD and hardware-in-the-loop testing, provide tooling support across diverse engineering workflows, and help with tooling and automation as we continue to grow.

You will have experience with HPC environments including working with job schedulers such as Slurm, and you will be responsible for helping us provide overflow capacity on AWS.

You will have the opportunity to build our DevOps practices from the ground up and contribute to improving efficiency across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Work with the engineering teams across FPGA design, software development, optics and mechanical engineering to support various EDA tools and simulation packages.
  • Help define CI/CD flows and build automation pipelines include hardware in the loop testing for FPGA deployments.
  • Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Administer our Linux HPC cluster, provide tooling and flow support.
  • Propose, plan, and optimize HPC usage across our in-house HPC cluster and AWS services.
  • Forecast HPC usage, optimize costs, and plan budgets.
  • Proactively, create processes and train others on best practice.
