As a Technical Product Manager for Mission OS at Rise8, you will:
- Serve as the connective tissue between technical execution and mission impact, translating complex DevSecOps, platform engineering, and digital transformation concepts into compelling, actionable content and product experiences.
- Partner with open source software (OSS) communities and contributors to shape tooling, content distribution, and platform integrations that amplify Mission OS's reach and impact.
- Drive continuous delivery of the Mission OS product — including the video series, workbook, marketing campaign, and live event strategy — applying lean product methodologies to optimize each release cycle.
- Own and evolve the product vision and strategy in collaboration with Rise8 leadership, content creators, marketing partners, and government stakeholders.
- Facilitate productive workshops and discovery sessions with subject matter experts, clients, and community members to extract insights and validate product direction.
- Actively embed with cross-functional teams — including developers, designers, content strategists, and government partners — modeling the balanced team practices central to the Mission OS curriculum.
- Assist clients and government change agents in adopting Mission OS principles, acting as both a product leader and a hands-on transformation practitioner.
- Apply the Improvement Kata and other Mission OS frameworks to your own work, continuously measuring outcomes and iterating based on evidence from production.
Qualifications
- 6–10+ years of experience spanning product management, technical program management, software engineering, or platform engineering, with a demonstrated track record of delivering outcomes in complex environments.
- Deep technical fluency — you can hold your own in architecture discussions, understand CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices, and evaluate platform and tooling tradeoffs without needing translation.
- Hands-on experience with open source software (OSS) — whether as a contributor, maintainer, community participant, or product leader who has built or shipped OSS-backed products.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor balanced, cross-functional teams across product, design, and engineering disciplines.
- Exceptional communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to distill technical complexity into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong facilitation skills for leading workshops, discovery sessions, and cross-functional alignment activities.
- A deep passion for continuous skill development and a desire to tackle intriguing challenges and complex problems.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance for US Government work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within or alongside the Department of Defense, federal agencies, or large regulated enterprises.
- Proficiency in lean product methodologies — Lean Enterprise, Continuous Delivery, DORA metrics — and the ability to coach teams and stakeholders on their application.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices including Platform as a Service (PaaS), path-to-production pipelines, and Continuous Authority to Operate (cATO) frameworks.
- Experience building or growing a product community, educational program, or developer ecosystem.
- Motivation and interest in speaking and writing on product management, digital transformation, or govtech topics for clients and the broader community.
- Active Security Clearance.
