Manufacturing Engineer
Cypress, California, United States; Redondo Beach, California, United States
At Senra Systems, we believe that the future of manufacturing lies not in automation, but in configuration.
We supercharge electrical wire harness manufacturing through software configuration, transforming skilled assembly tasks into high-throughput production lines. We enable customers to design what they want, when they want it and deliver harness builds at record-breaking speed.
We're looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to own and execute wire harness programs from engineering release through production readiness. You will develop manufacturing documentation, define build processes, and drive program-level improvements that enhance quality, repeatability, and scalability.
This role is ideal for an engineer who can independently execute defined programs, solve technical challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement—without needing to manage org-wide standards or enterprise-level systems. Prior wire-harness experience is not required but strongly preferred.
What you'll own:
Program Execution & Manufacturing Readiness
- Own manufacturing readiness for assigned harness programs from kickoff through release
- Develop engineering packages including work instructions, formboards, and basic tooling and fixture concepts
- Translate drawings, BOMs, and customer requirements into clear, production-ready processes
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure programs meet quality, schedule, and manufacturability expectations
- Provide technical clarity and guidance during program reviews and build planning
Process Development & Improvement
- Define and refine manufacturing processes to improve build quality, consistency, and efficiency
- Evaluate parts and assemblies to determine practical, scalable build approaches
- Support process validation, workflow optimization, and equipment/tooling readiness
- Apply lean principles, time studies, and capacity considerations to improve throughput
- Identify improvement opportunities within assigned programs and drive implementation
Documentation & Standards
- Ensure all documentation is clear, accurate, and aligned with quality and customer requirements
- Maintain and improve work instructions, formboards, and process documentation
- Partner with Quality to ensure compliance with IPC-620, NASA 8739.4, and customer specifications
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Surface recurring issues and contribute to structured process improvements
- Support implementation of standardized workflows and engineering best practices
- Collaborate with software/product teams to enhance manufacturing workflows and traceability
- Maintain adherence to lean principles, 5S, and aerospace quality standards
Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support technical communication with customers in partnership with Program Management or senior engineers
- Provide input on risks, tradeoffs, and feasibility during program reviews
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth program execution
What you'll bring to the team:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related STEM field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3–5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in production environments (wire harness, electrical assembly, aerospace, electronics, or similar)
- Experience supporting or owning manufacturing builds or programs end-to-end
- Working knowledge of:
- Process development and documentation
- Lean manufacturing and 5S
- Time studies and basic capacity planning
- CAD tools for creating assembly drawings and formboards
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to execute with moderate autonomy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills across engineering, production, and quality teams
Preferred
- Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and/or NASA STD 8739.4
- Background in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing
- Experience in contract manufacturing or high-mix production
- Hands-on familiarity with harness fabrication, testing, or assembly (not required)
- Exposure to MES/ERP systems
- Experience supporting NPI or early-stage production builds
- Exposure to structured continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen, Six Sigma)
