- The Friction Stir Welding Technician will set up and operate large, motion-controlled machines to create friction stir welds on launch vehicles.
- The role involves performing precision blending using hand tools to prepare metallic surfaces for welding and non-destructive evaluation.
- Technicians will be responsible for periodic maintenance on machines with complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Accurate use of precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and torque wrenches is required.
- The position may require standing for up to 4 hours a day and working directly with hardware on the floor, necessitating physical stamina and comfort in tight spaces.

- The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in machining, welding, or metal fabrication.
- A minimum of 3 years of industry experience in a relevant field is preferred, particularly in a manufacturing or production environment within the aerospace industry.
- Candidates should possess the ability to interpret electronic work instructions, process specifications, and technical drawings effectively.
- Proficiency in basic shop math, including geometry and trigonometry, is essential for success in this role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with team members and management.
