An aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company known for its Falcon rockets and Dragon spacecraft.

Manager, Production (Starship Electronics)

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

Manager, Production (Starship Electronics)

Are you ready to tackle the ultimate challenge in aerospace manufacturing? As the Manager of Starship Electronics Production, you'll spearhead the creation of mission-critical electronics that power humanity's journey to the Moon and Mars. This isn't just a job—it's your chance to be at the forefront of technological innovation, where flight hardware design and production processes are seamlessly intertwined. You'll drive the development of super-reliable, cost-effective, and high-rate manufacturing solutions for a diverse range of products, from precision cameras and advanced radios to robust batteries and high-power inverters. We are building high-rate linear assembly lines to produce the ultimate hybrid-electric vehicle for our solar system: a vehicle that acts as rocket, spacecraft, propellant depot, re-entry vehicle and space habitat. If you're fueled by extreme challenges and the thrill of building the impossible, this role offers the perfect blend of cutting-edge engineering and hands-on leadership in a fast-paced, startup-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage production supervisors and technicians to assemble and test highly reliable rocket and spacecraft electronics (cameras, radios, batteries, inverters, sensors, and more!)
  • Own the production line output and develop execution & continuous improvement strategies to achieve high production rates with flight quality
  • Lead comprehensive training programs, scale team capabilities and implement preventative maintenance plans
  • Challenge requirements to innovate; everything is on the table between design changes, process changes, and test changes to make the best flight product & best production lines
  • Foster a safe & exciting workplace that drives team growth and development through mentoring, training, and advancement opportunities, while emphasizing well-being, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Partner with production engineering, SMT production, flight product engineering, supply chain, test and customer production shops

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or 6+ years of professional experience managing production environments
  • 4+ years of professional experience in production management
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams with direct reports

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong background in lean manufacturing, process optimization, and quality control
  • Demonstrated ability to work in highly cross-functional roles, partnering with engineering, supply chain, and operations teams
  • Experience in fast-paced, demanding environments with a focus on innovation and rapid iteration
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for leading teams and collaborating across disciplines
  • Ability to thrive in an autonomously driven, startup-like atmosphere with a passion for extreme challenges and cutting-edge technology

Additional Requirements:

  • Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones
