- The Materials Technician will perform standardized mechanical tests such as tensile, compression, fatigue, and fracture toughness at various temperatures.
- Responsibilities include the preparation, operation, maintenance, and care of testing equipment, ensuring high-quality results.
- The role involves detailed documentation of testing parameters and equipment setup, as well as the generation of data reports.
- The technician will expedite samples across the SpaceX campus and work closely with engineering to execute non-standard testing.
- The position requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in a mechanical testing environment.

- The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in manufacturing or materials testing, demonstrating a solid foundation in mechanical testing principles.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for candidates holding an associate’s degree in engineering, math, or science.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.
- Proficiency in using mechanical testing software and data collection tools is important, along with strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
- Candidates should possess good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineering teams and other technicians.
