This is your chance to reimagine how supply chain operators experience technology. We're looking for a passionate, high-energy designer who can transform complex warehouse and transportation operations into intuitive, efficient experiences. You'll own design for our supply chain systems - the WMS, TMS, and operational tools that power millions of orders flowing through our network daily.
What makes this role special:
- Real-world impact: Your designs directly affect warehouse operators and logistics coordinators managing real inventory and real shipments
- Complex problem-solving: Design for workflows involving inventory movement, exception handling, and time-critical operations
- Vision storytelling: Get engineering teams excited about the why behind your designs - help them see how better UX creates operational excellence
- AI-powered velocity: Leverage AI design tools to rapidly prototype and iterate on complex operational interfaces
- Collaborative environment: Work within a growing 5-person design team while partnering directly with product and engineering
You'll work closely with warehouse operators, supply chain experts, and engineering teams to create software that doesn't just work - it makes complex operations feel simple. This isn't about making forms prettier; it's about designing experiences that make operators faster, more accurate, and more confident in high-velocity environments.
The opportunity: Own the design vision for mission-critical supply chain systems while being part of a collaborative design team that's establishing design excellence across Stord's platform. If you're energized by operational complexity and love helping engineers understand the human side of logistics software, this role will challenge and fulfill you.
What You'll Do:
Own Supply Chain System Design:
- Design intuitive experiences for WMS, TMS, and warehouse operational tools used by thousands of operators daily
- Create workflows for complex operations like receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory management
- Design for diverse user contexts: handheld scanners, desktop workstations, tablets on forklifts
- Optimize interfaces for speed and accuracy in time-sensitive, high-volume operational environments
Champion the User and Inspire the Team:
- Conduct user research with warehouse operators, drivers, and supply chain coordinators to deeply understand their workflows
- Translate operational complexity into compelling design narratives that get engineering teams excited to build
- Present design rationale that connects user pain points to business impact and operational efficiency
- Build empathy across the product organization for the real humans using these systems under pressure
Drive Rapid Design Iteration:
- Leverage AI design tools for quick prototyping and design exploration to accelerate velocity
- Create high-fidelity prototypes that validate concepts before engineering investment
- Iterate based on usability testing and operational feedback from real warehouse environments
- Balance design quality with speed - ship great experiences quickly
Collaborate Across Functions:
- Partner with product managers to shape roadmaps based on user insights and operational needs
- Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible while pushing for great UX
- Contribute to and utilize the growing design system for consistency across the platform
Measure and Improve:
- Define success metrics for your designs tied to operational efficiency and user satisfaction
- Conduct usability testing in warehouse environments to validate design decisions
- Analyze user behavior data to identify opportunities for improvement
- Continuously refine experiences based on real-world usage and feedback
What You'll Need:
Design Experience and Expertise:
- 5+ years of product design experience with at least 2 years designing complex B2B or operational software
- B2B design fluency - Deep understanding of designing for professional users in workflow-heavy environments
- Complex system design - Experience designing for multi-step workflows, exception handling, and data-heavy interfaces
- User research skills - Proven ability to conduct field research, usability testing, and translate insights into design
- Modern design tools - Advanced proficiency in Figma, including prototyping and component libraries
The Skills That Set You Apart:
- Storytelling ability - You can paint a picture of the user's world that gets engineering teams emotionally invested
- Technical collaboration - You speak engineering's language and understand technical constraints without compromising UX
- Operational mindset - You understand (or quickly learn) logistics workflows, warehouse operations, or supply chain processes
- High-fidelity execution - Your designs are polished, detailed, and ready for engineering handoff
- AI tool enthusiasm - You're excited to adopt AI-powered design tools to accelerate your workflow
The Mindset We're Looking For:
- High energy and vision - You bring contagious enthusiasm for solving hard problems and making operators' lives better
- Bias for action - You move fast, iterate quickly, and don't get stuck in analysis paralysis
- Empathy-driven - You genuinely care about the warehouse worker scanning 300 items per hour
- Collaborative spirit - You thrive in team environments and make everyone around you better
- Scrappy and resourceful - You figure out how to do great user research even with limited access to users
What Gets Us Really Excited:
- You've designed for logistics, supply chain, warehouse management, or field service applications
- You have experience designing for mobile scanners, tablets, or other specialized hardware
- You've worked in fast-paced startup or scale-up environments with rapid iteration cycles
- You've conducted user research in operational environments (warehouses, distribution centers, etc.)
- You have a portfolio that shows your ability to simplify complex workflows
- You've successfully influenced engineering teams to care deeply about user experience
