Job Summary:

This individual is a member of the Optical Coating Department and will be responsible for performing all functions related to inspecting, cleaning, and coating of the optical components.

Hours: 1st shift for 3-6 months for training and then night shift 10pm – 6:30am (with 15% shift differential).

Teledyne FLIR is seeking a Coating technician.

  • Handle, clean, and prep optics before and after coating process.
  • Prepare tooling and load product for runs.
  • Prepare vacuum chambers for coating runs.
  • Monitor coating processes and record necessary run parameters.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or process issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Make spectral measurements, as necessary.
  • Assist in product recovery processes.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform general housekeeping requirements of a clean room environment.
  • Follows appropriate safety and equipment maintenance procedures.
  • New hire will train for up to one to six months on day shift and then move to night shift.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 1-3 years prior experience in a production environment
  • Ability to visually inspect optical components for microscopic defects.
  • Ability to handle delicate parts and assist with the cleaning and packing of parts and material.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to use basic shop tools.
  • Ability to grip, grasp, and work with hands on product repetitively.
  • Willing to work overtime as necessary
  • Ability to follow direction and coaching from others.
  • Minimal supervision required.
