Program Controller
At Turion Space, we're on a mission to secure Earth and expand humanity's reach beyond it. We're building a fleet of spacecraft to support national security, in-space servicing, and orbital debris removal. As we ramp toward multiple launches and rapid hardware development, we're looking for a Program Controller to bring structure to the chaos and drive alignment across teams and timelines. This is a full-time, exempt role based at our headquarters in Irvine, CA, and will work directly with program management, finance, supply chain, and our engineering leads.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary interface between PMO, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment on program metrics and forecasts.
- Track and manage program budgets, costs, and schedules from project initiation through completion, ensuring adherence to EAC targets.
- Monitor and reconcile actual costs versus planned forecasts, providing timely updates and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain program dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI or advanced Excel (including macros), delivering weekly and monthly performance metrics.
- Support forecasting of labor and material requirements in collaboration with Finance and Supply Chain team members.
- Ensure timely tracking of labor hours and material deliveries, escalating issues as needed to prevent delays.
- Provide data-driven insights to alleviate workload on Program Managers, enabling them to focus on strategic execution.
- Identify and address gaps in program tracking to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Generate and present performance reports for leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and corrective actions.
- Act as a data analyst for program metrics, leveraging analytical tools to improve accuracy and efficiency in reporting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- 5+ year's experience in program control or project/program management support.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, including Power BI, Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, macros).
- Demonstrated ability to track budgets, costs, and schedules including variance analysis and forecasting.
- Strong understanding of program metrics and ability to reconcile actuals vs. planned forecasts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in aerospace, defense, or complex engineering programs is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for executive-level reporting
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management principles and program performance metrics.
- Strong background in forecasting techniques for labor and material planning.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI (or similar BI tools), including administrative capabilities to manage data sources, oversee data entry processes, and create standardized dashboards for reporting.
Program Controller Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 USD
