We’re looking for a Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering to lead and scale the team that brings Union’s platform into production for our most strategic customers. This is a hands-on leadership role for a technical operator who loves working at the intersection of engineering, product, and real-world deployment.
Your team will lead deployments, build integrations, close the feedback loop between customer experience and product, and define what operational excellence looks like in software delivery.
If you’ve built or led Field Engineering or Support organizations for robotics, autonomous systems, or large-scale AI platforms, this is the opportunity to build something foundational — and transformative.
Build and lead the Forward Deployed Engineering team: Recruit, mentor, and develop world-class engineers who can own customer outcomes end to end.
Design the playbook for deployment at scale: Create the processes, tools, and success metrics that define how Union technology is deployed, integrated, and supported.
Be the technical partner to our customers: Guide implementation strategy, troubleshoot high-impact issues, and ensure measurable results in complex, distributed environments.
Shape the feedback loop: Bring real-world insights back to product and engineering teams to continuously improve reliability, maintainability, and performance.
Drive operational excellence: Establish systems for uptime, observability, and issue resolution that scale across customer fleets and environments.
Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with Product, Software, and Manufacturing teams to deliver high-value, production-grade solutions.
10+ years of experience in field, support, or forward-deployed engineering for robotics, AI, or complex enterprise systems.
Proven ability to build and scale technical field organizations across geographies and industries.
Deep understanding of hardware–software integration, systems diagnostics, and large-scale deployments.
Track record of partnering with customers on high-stakes technology rollouts — ideally in autonomous systems, logistics, or robotics.
Strong leadership and communication skills; able to mentor senior engineers and drive alignment across product and operations.
Experience defining technical KPIs and success frameworks for customer-facing engineering teams.
Curiosity, resilience, and a bias toward action — you’re energized by ambiguity and motivated by impact.
Exceptional talent shouldn't be bound by geography. If you're ready to relocate to Dallas, TX and join us in reindustrializing America’s defense backbone, we'll make it easy—and for those who move quickly, additional incentives may be available.
