Technician Assembler

The Technician Assembler will support both the VP of Operations and Production Control Manager to perform precision assembly and test of aerospace components in the Reno/Lovelock facilities. Tasks will include: precision assembly of aerospace components; precision test of aerospace components; Reno facility operations support and maintenance (including tooling/test equipment maintenance and repair); Ammunition & Energetics (A&E) handling and support; property management support, quality support, and shipping and receiving support.

This job will focus on programs in the production portion of the product life cycle and, therefore, relies on experience and judgment to organize, plan and accomplish program and operations objectives within the constraints of prescribed work instructions and travelers on schedule. The Technician Assembler will also assist in the development and creation of standard operations policies and procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives to successfully support Reno Facility Operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform mechanical and structural assembly of aerospace components per work instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments and test equipment to assemble, fit and install parts and components.
  • Conduct inspections of in-process and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Prepare and apply surface coatings (e.g., primers, sealants, bonding agents) per work instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records using company systems (e.g., travelers, checklists, shop floor control systems).
  • Identify and communicate nonconformances, support root cause analysis and assist with corrective actions.
  • Follow all safety protocols, standard operating procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Work in controlled areas when required.
  • Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives within the production team.
  • Work in and support a fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing setting.
  • May require standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and wearing PPE.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet production schedules.

  • This job requires an individual with experience partnering with program managers, program planner/schedulers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers and inspectors, and other program team members from the supply chain, quality, and operations functions to strategize and create/maintain plans that ensure indirect and direct objectives are met.
  • This job requires an individual with excellent interpersonal communication skills (both spoken and written) to include communications with program teams, company management, business partners, and customers.

Experience required:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in aerospace or precision assembly manufacturing.
  • Experience assembling and testing hardware in accordance with specific work instructions and recording progress in a disciplined and consistent manner.

Education required:

  • High school diploma/GED.

Skills required:

  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, travelers and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in using measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
  • Ability to work with close tolerances and fine attention to detail.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to multi-task in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Proven critical thinking ability applied to recognizing problems and seeking supervisory direction prior to placing hardware at risk by proceeding.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with ERP/shop floor systems.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.

Other required:

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
