Job Title: Sr. Technical Program Manager – Energetic Material Chemistry
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Technical Program Manager to lead and manage programs focused on energetic material chemistry. This role requires a strong background in industrial chemistry, chemical safety, and chemical handling, combined with exceptional program management skills. The ideal candidate will oversee both external customer development programs and internal R&D initiatives, actively contribute to team hiring and facility development, and play a key role in document control related to operating procedures and policies.
As a leader in this role, you will demonstrate technical ownership, program leadership, and a commitment to excellence in communication, documentation, and task management. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure programs are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management: Lead and manage programs for external customer development and internal R&D initiatives related to energetic material chemistry. Develop and maintain program schedules, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer expectations. Monitor program progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
- Technical Leadership: Provide programmatic oversight and ownership, ensuring adherence to best practices as defined by regulations, industry standards and X-Bow priorities. Collaborate within the chemistry team to define technical requirements, research objectives, and development plans. Serve as a key voice in facility development, contributing to the design and implementation of infrastructure to support chemical R&D and manufacturing.
- Team Development: Actively participate in hiring efforts for the chemistry team, identifying and recruiting top talent to support program goals. Foster a culture of communication, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Document Control and Policy Management: Oversee the creation, review, and maintenance of operating procedures, safety protocols, and other critical documentation. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for chemical safety and handling.
- Communication and Reporting: Serve as a strong communicator, delivering clear and concise updates to stakeholders, including customers, leadership, and cross-functional teams. Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation to support program objectives and decision-making.
- Team Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work within a team of chemists, engineers, and technicians to drive program success. Interface regularly with program managers, chief engineers, site operations personnel, and safety teams to ensure alignment and compliance with organizational goals and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of Program Manager experience in industrial chemistry. Demonstrated experience in technical ownership and program leadership, with a proven track record of managing complex programs to successful completion. Experience in facility development and infrastructure planning for chemical R&D or manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of energetic material chemistry, including safety protocols and handling procedures. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences. Expertise in document control, including the development and management of operating procedures and policies. Strong work ethic and attention to detail, with a commitment to documentation, task assignment, and managing to schedule and budget. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
